  • I've got a Toyota RAV4 plug in hybrid on order for delivery next year on lease. 18kw battery, so claimed 40-45mile electric range. As most of my day to day driving is school runs, and short travel appointments, this sounds ok.
Should I be considering a full electric? For the family practicality, I guess I'd be looking at model Y, Kia EV6, Hyundai Ionic 5, etc?

I was given a Volvo XC40 P8 EV as a courtesy car, and it was hilariously fast. Quite expensive and not fantastic range however.

  • Sounds about right, with that size battery you could just use the 3 pin granny charger, won't take long to charge!

  • In reality for most of my driving I could have a little run around, but we also drive to France every 6 weeks or so, so range anxiety is real. As far as I am aware, EV chargers in France are not bad, but if I went for a full EV, it would need to be one of the long range versions with 77kw batteries or more.
