This discussion prompted me to disappear down a JV Stratocaster rabbit hole and there's a terrific website with all manner of info about what year they were released, the kind of pick-ups, pots, scratch plates, etc. Then there's a section entitled 'Knob comparison' and for some reason I could no longer take the site seriously.
