Good point, or lack thereof.

Opinels are readily available in Decathlon
That's handy, will wait till I next pass a decathlon, save online posting etc.

You Opinel lovers should be buying the TdF ones

TBH I find it unbelievably painful. I can never find user posts within threads and always find myself going back because something hasn't worked.
-
• #4681
It's always that trade-off of do I spend ten minutes reminding myself how to do a detailed search or ten minutes of just flicking through the results from the vague search I did.

This is most commonly used search, user's posts within a certain thread. Just edit the URL with the threads ID and the user's ID

If I remember correctly, you were once rather smug about your acquiring pseudo pound coins for free from charities for shopping trolley opening duties?
You obviously don't remember correctly. Would you like to show some proof?
Another handy search if your forgetful but can't remember which thread

Anyone tried one of these:

Can we get back to knives please.
-
• #4686
Yes! From about a month ago, it's a nice round/rolling action - and good to be 3mm - I do want to fill the gap at the top of the handle.

Yep. It's alright, nothing special! I prefer using the £10 pro cook thing that's been posted here before.

Got the supposed sandoko one and IMO it is shite, Portuguese and blunt as fuck. My less than €5 kiwi knife is sharper.

ah - mixed reviews then, thanks all.
I do want to fill the gap at the top of the handle
which gap is that? is the shank not flush with the wood?
blunt as fuck.
presumably it can be sharpened? I noticed that it's the same steel as the spenny opinel chefs knives like this:

I'll get photos for you later, but those aren't the issue.

Thanks - that would annoy me too!
Edit - should have said "tang" and "scales" in my original question....

Well reminded, I need to grab a couple of the £10 ProCooks for my brothers birthday
-
• #4695
Has anyone with the infamous £10 ProCook treated the handle at all?
-
• #4696
Thought about oiling it, but haven't so far
-
• #4697
Nah, had it for a couple of years and looks the same really.
Did consider going at it with blowtorch for a scorched look, but so far have not

I put a few coats of linseed oil on mine.. would probably need a few more to make any noticeable difference.

Nah, just places for food to get stuck.

Good point (no pun intended)
Given the frequency of requests for sharpening advice ....
