  • yeah - Alonso knows there is a very high risk in overtaking in Monaco - so why stress the tyres at their early point when they need to go long on the actual race - in the end he was proved to be correct, and could pull away to a 4 to 5 second at the end.

just look at the front runners for tyre deg and pushing hard issues!

  • the 4/5 second gap at the end was only because Lewis was pushing Ocon back into Bottas/Seb.

Seemed to be some petty games from everyone, which could only happen on a track like Monaco. I won't be bothered if it's dropped in the future all other things being equal.

  • Scrap the race and turn it into a time-trial

  • Seems like everyone is briefing against Riccardo; nearly every paper has an article about how "Insert former F1 driver here" says Riccardo will lose his drive and perhaps his F1 career in general in the next 2-3 grands prix. Seems a bit harsh but he's a waste of a seat at the moment for McLaren for the salary he commands.

  • My bet's on Gasly to replace him

  • It's probably the only choice at the moment; but obviously that gives Riccardo 2022 to improve as RB would not let him go until the end of the season at the earliest (I also think Gasly is under contract until the end of 23?). I can't see Alpine wanting to let Piastri loose with a direct competitor but he'd be a good shout.

  • My bet's on Gasly to replace him

i would love to see this!

  • Literally every weekend

Leclerc fastest in Azerbaijan Grand Prix second practice as Hamilton struggles

  • Yup. F1 journo duties on Fridays this season are easy - just copy & paste, then go to the pub!

  • I'd written off this season for Ferrari as I was sure Verstappen was going to take it, but with Perez coming back, I'm betting on RB having some multi-21 style problems later this year.

  • Obviously practice isn't everything, but good to see Ricciardo looking a bit better so far this weekend

  • Qualy was entertaining until the very end today! Ferrari can't afford any mistake and Perez is probably eager to finish ahead of Verstappen, so I'm excited to see some action in lap 1!

  • Sainz to take out Perez and Verstappen on the first corner in a act of f1 sepuku

  • Rumours of Latifi being replaced by Piastri after the Canadian GP, don't think many would have an issue with that

  • Ah there it is, that Ferrari fan feeling...

  • This race turned much duller than I hoped for

  • This race championship turned much duller than I hoped for

    .

  • Pretty impressive race by Vettel considering that spin and a 1-stop on lap 9.

Good to see Ricciardo back on pace too.

And when the hell did Renault engines get so damn quick? (Realise there's aero at play also, but still damn impressive!)

  • So apparently Max has had more wins from Leclerc poles than Leclerc has. That's a pretty grim stat

  • Dire

Good to see Gasly score a few points

  • Rumours of Kyalami returning next year.

Dropping Spa should be illegal imo.

  • Russel - another solid performance. keep your head down and stay on track...

  • keep your head up and down and up and down and up and down and up and down and stay on track...

    .

  • Agreed.

Kyalami would likely be another Mugello. Awesome track that's horrible to race these cars around.

The trend for all the decent Euro races disappearing for some high-paying countries to hold races is pretty alarming. Even the US with 3 races, only 1 of which is half-way decent (assuming Las Vegas will be shite).

  • Looks like a new technical directive being dropped this weekend to enforce max porpoising oscillations and teams will have to raise the car if it falls foul. Looks like a slam dunk for RB as the Ferrari is definitely one of the more bouncy cars!
