  • Thanks for the feedback, guys! I did mean it when we said we wanted to hear thoughts on the price and consider lowering it, so fair enough. I think @hippy got it right in that it's a niche vintage bike, so price estimates are hard to come by and its value is subjective. Schwinn 1995 Homegrowns are not listed or sold often, and plus, we've heard from multiple interested bike mechanics who are familiar with these models that it'll be worth lots to some and not to others. Often, when we bring it into the shop or ride it around, people will take photos of it and say similar things.

We've seen comparable price estimates on Bikepedia: ([1] https://www.bikepedia.com/QuickBike/BikeSpecs.aspx?item=32639; [2] https://www.bikepedia.com/QuickBike/BikeSpecs.aspx?item=32640). Like the link from @hippy, frames alone are listed and sold for hundreds of pounds (1995 bare frame listed here https://www.ebay.com/itm/224555565293?hash=item34488e00ed:g:2M4AAOSwS7hhA1gR), and we've invested hundreds in tuning up the bike, esp the shocks and brakes, over the years. So along with the unique combo of custom add-ins, we thought to start there.

We're happy to lower the price substantially for a best offer, and it seems like we just need to find a buyer who's a good fit who's already very interested in vintage Schwinn Homegrowns as a collector's piece. We'll keep posting elsewhere, happy to hear honest feedback.

  • So we are paying 2x for every time you changed a tube or changed the brake pads because you were ‘investing’ on a ‘collector’s piece’. I think more likely you have an old mountain bike and got a bit excited watching Antiques Roadshow
