Surely you want RAD to the max.

am not as cool as you and know my limitations!

Sadly I’ve departed the Emerald Isle for Canada so cannot join any Lfgss shenanigans.
I can weigh in on the bike chat though - a mate just swapped is Specialized Stumpjumper for a Commencal Meta Tr for smashing about Wicklow and Dublin and he loves it.

I have some tyres on order (Assegai and DHR II in Double-Down casing) but they’re going to arrive after my trip to Morzine. Which is annoying.
Anyone got an opinion on the new Continental tyres, think it’s the Kryptotal that might be suitable?
(The Michelins which are on the bike are very soft and I think better saved for wet conditions*).
*I may just have cursed my holiday

Are you taking your Go Pro?

• #24085
I should imagine so; I usually do. Why?

After watching one of your commuting videos, I'm hoping for the same casual commentary as you hurtle down the side of a mountain :-)

"Looks like Neil in the bushes again"

Only if you choose the wrong tyres!

ah yes I see. My casual commentary is a fairly new thing. I usually have a backing track a bit like this
Ankle Injuries - an MTB road trip
Or perhaps just trail sounds like this
Hope you like them.

Bit of a problem has developed- no hire bikes available for 2-9th July, and my girlfriend only has a hardtail.
Anyone know somewhere that would hire me a bike here in the UK that I could take out and bring back?

She normally rides a medium, but that’s an idea.

Perfect excuse for a new bike.

I'm all-ears, I'd say 150 frame 160 fork, and she'd prefer 27.5" because short.

Bird must do something suitable

BIG tyres, 10mm longer airshaft, bigger front rotor and maybe an angleset.
-
• #24097
I could move all the parts from my 529 onto her Moxie frame, so that’s the DR option.
That would give her a 150mm fork, 203/180mm rotors, 2.5” DHF and 2.4” Dissector

Not a bad idea at all. Plenty of smoother blues etc?
-
• #24099
On the Super Morzine side there's that long, wide, not particularly steep slope that has a lot of different runs going down it, which I think would fit the bill. There's also some nice blues on the Morzine side, and the skills park above Les Gets - all of which is very smooth.

And there might be the possibility of day rental of a full sus once you are out there
I recently realised my measurement of my Rider Area Distance was actually too long, so have removed spacers and rotated bars back a bit more on the Aether. The bar rotation has reduced my SHO from approx 15mm to nearly 0mm. Will be riding tomorrow and discover how much the reduction in RAD and SHO will make to the bikes handling.
I think my proposed new hardtail will have SHO around 10mm
