    most likely will not be a durable enough for a bike frame.

    Well, my other linseed oil tests with the black oxide paint suggests it could work, but this specific paint Dodenkop is definitely not durable enough for a commercial product that sits out in the rain. But my hope was that it would hold up to some riding and cleaning and then be stored in doors.

    But thanks for you insights. It is appreciated. Now I've got to think through what next step is.
    In your opinion, will powder coating require chemical treatment to get the oils off as well?
