  • Most likely... irritatingly it was Gibson themselves who shipped it as I purchased it from their European Demo Shop...

More irritatingly the amount it was insured for is only about half of what it would cost to replace it six months on with the increase in values and the fact that I'd gotten such a bloody good deal on it...

Even more irritatingly Gibson Demo Shop wouldn't ship it to Ireland so I had it shipped to my mate in Paris who forwarded it on to me so no way of telling when it was damaged in transit and I don't reckon I'll have any success chasing them up six months on so going to have to hope La Poste dish out the measly insurance claim and I can get it repaired...

  • I really hope you get something back for this, you must be gutted.

That's a familiar repair to any luthier, but obviously it's not going to be new again - sorry to see the pictures.

  • Yeah I'm hoping I get full of insurance which would be €1000 (I paid €1300 and flippantly said to my mate to stick a grand on it when he was posting it) and my trusted local shop has estimated €300-400 without having seen it...

I am a little bit tempted to try and DIY it, the gluing bit is obviously easy but backstrapping will likely be a good challenge for a first time...
