No canti hanger at the headset?
-
• #103
Wasn’t sure what I was doing with brakes till yesterday so finally ordered some last night.

Don't leave us in suspense. What did you order?

Stop gap brakes for now: shimano CT91. $10.99 per brake. Until XTR cantis turn up on eBay for not stupid money.

Cool. Will have a look for when I decide whether to build up a winter wheelset.

XTR M900s acquired for less than the price of a single Paul brake and infinitely cooler IMO.

• #110
I drilled my fork for a stupid Paul caliper and now I can't fit a cheap old one instead. What a dick!
Beaut frame JB, worthy of a car-free big-tire mid-life revolution :)

Oh no!
*third-life thank you very much I'm not even 30 yet 😂😭
Should have some progress by the weekend I hope...

Awesome color!
I vote for some gunmetal xtr's:) -

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but the brakes are just straight silver.

• #114
I was lucky and got them used, searched literally years, new price is heavy. But aren’t they ultra nice?

Ah damn I was on page 4 and answered, and saw page 5 now

Ha, you're good. I have to admit I don't love the shape of Neo Retro's. I'm more of a traditional canti person. The Neo's just jut out from the frame a bit too much for me - and it's even worse on the fork.

Good score on the xtr cantis.
I'm with you on neos, don't mind Paul's touring canti though, but still silly money.

Yah. I've not seen a photo of the ones I've actually paid for, but they were $110 shipped and description from guy on Paceline was: 'of XTR m900s including original straddle cables and all the correct hardware in excellent condition', so I am excited.
I think they're worth the amount of money based on their manufacturing and the quality of the parts, but for me they are not worth half as much as my wheels...

That they pop out so much from the frame, yes, that's absolutely true and sometimes even a problem, get stuck with fancy lycra clothes for example. Braking is I have to say great, I thought I would hate them, a cable stop mounted on the fork stopped stutter totally. On the one group 2-days ride I did last year I was the only one with rim brakes, but the most quiet one!
Also great color on the frame, with silver parts, ah and shipping from Japan is really super fast.

Bad picture and lighting but we have some progress! Would’ve fitted the BB and cranks but it turns out that I don’t have a 20th century bottom bracket tool anymore 😅
It’s funny, compared to the Rat Trap Pass’a on my Stumpjumper, these look tiny.
Speaking of which, tubeless setup with these Crust wheels and Ultradynamico tyres was outrageously easy.

Really nice. 48c is a pretty good middle ground between comfort and speed.
bdhu though. ;)

It was just a mockup :((((((((( Bars followed the line of the stem but yeah from this angle it looks weird.
Gonna go pick up a BB tool at lunch and brakes should be here tomorrow so should be making more progress soon.
Undecided on a saddle for this though. Was going to pinch the Selle Anatomica I bought for my Stumpjumper but turns out its the noisiest, most creaky saddle on the planet. Didn't really want a Brooks though and Berthoud's are $$$$....

Berthoud's are $$$$....
They are the best though. Comfiest saddle I ever owned. Not a huge fan of Brooks.

How about a Rivet?
GREAT colour
