Didn't I share the the way to check reg/rec and stator diagram.
That is the best way to diagnose issues.
Honda reg/rec are shite. Check out the links I posted for the souls triumph, it is all the research I did on reg/rec.

But will a blackbird be as fast as this? (obviously it will be about 3 3/4 times faster so I may have to go for comfort in motorcycle top trumps!).
Just been delivered, a 1993 Honda c90 Custom, 34k Km on the clocks and seems to be in very good order.

34k, it’s still running in.

Very likely but you are assuming I can remember what I had for breakfast.

Needs a 'for sale' sign fairing and you are good to go racing.
Looks great BTW, that blue is lovely

In town traffic? Nope!
Jealous.
Not a grail bike, but I’d love to own one.

Nice - love them!

This for me.
MrsDeth would probably make me live in the garage if I got another bike though. -

Thanks all. It’s my second c90. The first lives out in Ireland and gets used for blatting around the local lanes, light off road and lugging things for gardening (we are at the end of a long boreen and it’s a pita nipping back to the sheds for a saw or anything.
I’m hoping this one is as much fun in the urban environment, they’re also considerably more expensive now as Irish cub only cost me six hundred quid on eBay (at the time I somehow bought three bikes on eBay each one for £600 ish, the cub, a 1968 bantam (now they are shit! And it is now in a barn in Ireland) and a Kawasaki gt550 - not much chance of that now) -

If you fancy a bit of customising, my mate bought this recently - apparently it’s great. I haven’t seen it in real life yet but it was remarkably expensive!

Anyone know if there is a classy leather alternative for seats. Not vinyl "pleather". Actual resilient fabric. I cant find anything. I'm thinking along the lines of the brooks cambium saddle type thing.
Just curious.

Sorry as that came across as confrontational.

Dread to ask how much it was, as the prices are silly.
I had the 70 as I wasn't allowed the 90 ;)

£2100, seven seas motors sold me it, they import a lot of Japanese niche stuff - very good to buy from.

HOW MUCH!
-
• #21120
Yep, about the third of the cost of a mountain bike.
-
• #21121
Amazed at how much the price has increased in the last 15 years.
Wonder if the Innova will do the same.

Tested the fuel tap, that was fine.
Fitted a fuel reservoir to the carbs and balanced them okay though they were tricky and the left middle carb wouldn't match up with the other three no matter what we did.
So we thought it was a lost cause, however it was revving much better and no sight or sound of the dramas in that video I previously posted..
So I took it for a test ride and it rode absolutely fine for the 15 mins I was out for.
Shocked is an understatement. It's not that smooth and needs a little "something" to smooth it out but I have no idea what. I may take it to a garage to sort.
Overall, It runs and pulls fine and I wasn't expecting it to run like it is.
Great evening!

If the carb isn't balancing, check the valve clearances.
-
• #21124
As Lynx has said valve clearances are important.
Check the fuel mixture as well. I run mine a bit rich, just enough to crackle on the overrun. I did use a colortune to begin with but after a while I learnt to do it by ear. I carried a small screwdriver and made tiny adjustments to the mixture over the space of a month to arrive at my current settings.
Float height and carb cable condition can be a factor too.
When it all comes together the effect is pretty magical. I've not managed to get a garage to do a decent job of tuning engines, they get in the ballpark but you need to ride it and get a feel for different temperatures before you find a good compromise.

Finally managed to have an entire tank of not E10. Bike sat for 3 weeks = would defo give me grief if even a wiff of E10 in there, nope started 1st crank and ran perfect all evening.
£1.88 a litre though FML. Super glad I don't have a bike that consumes a quid's worth of fuel per blat out of a decent corner.
Cost half that when I put the Blackbird on mine. Bonkers.
