  • Are they the kind of pumps that are valved so they pump in both directions? Maybe something has become stuckered. Pull it apart and have a look.

  • I think it is this threaded part near the handle that is at fault. There are two small holes that suck the air into the chamber when you pull (at least that is what I think happens). Problem is it currently doesn't suck enough air in, but the holes are clear and I cleaned them, so I dunno? My only thought is to buy a new one and see if it is that part that is faulty.

    pump in both directions

Didn't know you can get these.

  • Look for their service guide online.
Maybe an o-ring has worn out.

I had a feeling there was a rubber disc thing that sits on top, but that's only vague memory from a pump I had 20 years ago (ooh nurse)

  • Yeah, but I think all those bits are for the head which is fine. I removed that and still had the problem. It's a cool pump in that you can disassemble every single piece.

  • Oh yeah, I see it now.

Still, there should be some detail about the piston bit somewhere on the 'net. Normally you just throw some grease on the o-ring and pumpy pumpy improves.

  • heh, thanks for the help hippy 👍

  • It's working again, might have just needed to dry out. I tried a new one in a shop the other day and it was lots smoother, but it's fine for now.

  • Mini pump ideas for a disc wheel? have ordered a small c02 nozzel to get in there for emergencies but rather use good old oxygen. Something with a screw on hose?

  • My Silca Tattico manages this and is a brilliant mini pump in general. Bit pricey, was on sale when I bought it.

  • Is the Topeak Mini Morph still a good choice?

I've had the old lezyne drive break on me as well as the truflo mini pump. One friend recommends the Topeak Mountain Morph but it's pretty long.

Any other suggestions - ideally needs to work with tyres from 2.0 to 2.5.

  • I still prefer the Lezyne pumps. I have maybe 4 of them now. I like their "mini track pumps" for gravel and MTB tyres and I know Michael Wacker carried one in TABR on the road. I bought the smaller "HV" pump for my 29er but with massive tubeless tyres I'm now wondering if I shouldn't just use their mini track pump. The extra 50-100g or whatever could be the difference between seating a tyre and not.

  • I use the mountain TT it's worked everyone for me no hassle. Will seat tyres that go with a floor pump too.

I do want to get one with a gauge and this has reminded me. The right Psi is everything off road.

  • The thread on the hose stripped - possibly due to me being ham-fisted. Not sure if I was unlucky.

    @skinny - cheers.

  • Aluminium so pretty easy to cross-thread if you're not careful.

  • I might as well pick up a replacement hose as there's no point chucking a working pump.

  • Find someone who has stripped their pump. Combine your powers :)

  • Anyone got experience/recommendations for aftermarket brackets?

I'd like a new bracket for my Road Morph but they're out of stock everywhere and the distributor doesn't have an ETA.

    28mm diameter if that helps.

  • What about some electrical tape and then velcro them to a frame tube?

  • Yeah Enduro straps/Voile were going to be my last resort.

Since then I've found this which looks like it could work quite well.

  • Ah, I should've known you could get spare Lezyne mounts. I'd probably get the nylon one though - don't know why you'd want a metal thing strapped to your frame.

  • The nylon one isn’t as open so is not as universal. The alloy or carbon ones fit any pump. I use one with a Silca Tattico no problem.

  • Furry muff, that makes sense.

  • This is what I like to hear - thanks both! 🤜

  • Obviously all the playas will have their colour matched Silca Impero, installed under the top tube like a heated towel rail.

But for the mini pump fan, what’s the forum approved method of carrying - rear pocket, frame mount off the bottle cage, bougie bar bag or at home in the shed which you only remember when 15 miles away from home with a softening rear tyre and pristine carbon soled shoes?
