I'm looking to get a USB audio interface just in case I get my setup sorted out again.
I've got an Xone32, rca / line outputs, does anyone have a recommendation for anything?
I used to have an M-Audio 192 Audiophile PCI card with RCA inputs, but that must be around ......... 20 years ago now. Time flies!
Looking for something similar so I can record my glorious clanging pan mixes in 192 glory

Did another little mix on the cheap Subzero rotary mixer mentioned a few pages ago:
https://www.mixcloud.com/ajacuzzi/mix-feb-22/Love the mixer, but noticed one of the channel EQs has stopped working on the left speaker. Luckily owned it just under a year, so should get a repair/replacement. Hope it's a one off, would be a shame if it's unreliable as it's great otherwise.

Lovely set, I really like it. Smooth & deep.
I have one Subzero SZ-DMR-400 rotary mixer. It's an exact copy of the Omnitronic TRM-402 rotary mixer. They use ALPS pots and make a pretty good quality preamp by my reckoning. My old CDJ1000s are used as hifi in my lounge. These now run into the Subzero, and then on into a pair of (one per speaker, bridged to mono) Rotel RB-971 power amps, driving a pair of Mission 702e floor standing speakers in our main lounge. I use the booth output of the mixer to run another Rotel RB-971 (in stereo mode) to drive a small pair of Roth wall mounted speakers in our kitchen/dining/chilling area, which sound surprisingly good. The Subzero is the 4 channel version, but each channel has a built in small switch to route in another source, giving me 8 inputs. This allows me to run ... 2 CDJs, digital radio, old tape deck, TV, sequencer/synth, computer, and an incredible little Esinkin hifi bluetooth receiver. It's because I have so many sources and still like to use my CDJs, that I have a mixer rather than a hifi preamp, but the Subzero fills the role pretty well, and it gives us so much versatility. I think mine is a couple of years old now, and so far providing flawless performance. I hope you get yours sorted and enjoy using it. Rotary pots are so much nicer to use than sliding pots. Finally got Serato/Pioneer DDJ and vinyl up and running and found the correct old drivers for the Behringer so it works with Audacity, and the settings that you need for Audacity to play nice with Mixcloud.

Skillz. God knows the amount of prep to add the cue points and develop a juggling routine that works them all in and be able to manage the whole thing without getting lost. Just to do that for one would be an achievable, but looks like he’s able to knock them out for fun (swipe right). I wonder how long routines like that stay with you before you forget them.

I’ve used the Pioneer DDJ Wego with an IPad running Algoriddim and a laptop using Serato and its perfectly adequate if you’re not doing turntablist stuff.

No headphones, two of them and they're using something that looks like a Roland drum machine (presumably some kind of controller) and like a Maschine or Kaos pad thing.
Is the set recorded prior, do they just have a shitload of tracks that are all synced and then just cue the next one up and faders are for tweaking the mixes and stuff or what?

Daft Punk were using Ableton Live and controllers for their tours in 2006/7 and every set had the same track order but things were tweaked filtered and looped live so nonrecording is the same. Not really DJing at all just live remixing

I would guess that they have everything split into stems as that's how a lot of dance music is delivered now. You get tracks in full but also each section isolated, ie drums, bass, melody, song, etc. Then you have it running in sync and just slot stuff in and tweak as you go.
Sounds easy but there's of course huge amount of skill involved.

Daft Punk - I get that - they're their own tracks so they have all the raw material to mix as they choose.
kboy: I've heard of that before but are producers really providing their tracks to DJs split into stems (component parts) like that? It seems like you're basically giving away your secret sauce (if you're the producers)

I think they were - at one point there was a stems section on Beatport, but that stopped because they wanted it to go through Loopcloud, which I assume lets you use stems in more of a controlled environment. There are a few ‘AI’ services that claim to do all sorts of wonderful things with stems to either let you play around with the track or automatically create unique mixes of tracks for you, based on your mood or whatever. All seem terrible to me.
Seems as though there are ways for people to try and get their own stems - https://djmag.com/longreads/five-ways-separate-acapellas-and-stems-2021 - which seems like a good way for new DJs to commit career suicide.

Any y’all DJ downtemp, chillout, ambient stuff and have any tips and advice?
I’ve got absolutely tonnes of digital stuff that I’ve only ever just listened to and haven’t ever tried to put into a set.
Going to start getting it prepped in Rekordbox and know I’ll have to be thoughtful about how I sort and tag it and be pretty creative with most of the transitions.
I’ll up a mix here soon.
