Sure it’s been asked before, adverts? Surely that would cover a huge amount considering the amount of website activity?

adverts
Please no, LFGSS is a refreshingly welcome haven from the total spammy pop up bullshit nightmare of most websites

Ads mean tracking, I've been doing a lot of work recently around cookies being dropped on clients' websites... LFGSS is so refreshingly light. Look at the partners/ vendors list in a tracking consent popup and see the number of partners they work with
A surprisingly small amount of the price paid for an ad goes to the publisher too.

Been trying to set up monthly donation for a while.....
Realised my Amex doesn't seem to want to allow it 🤷🏻♂️
Sorted now using debit card via PayPal! -

I think this was trialled way back when, proved to be more trouble than it was worth, even in the very limited fashion it was implemented.

Unless it's static ads arranged directly with LFGSS. I dunno, a bike shop advertising with a discount code for example.
But yeah, no need for adverts if donations are ticking over nicely.

This is what I was thinking!

Which we tried with SJS Cycles. The problem being that we produce too much traffic (costly for advertisers) but don't drive enough sales (they don't make their money back).
For the page view count we have, branding from major cycling brands could work. But I'd still need to add a lot of tracking to satisfy their needs to see the money was well spent.
Removing adverts made things faster, more private, more secure... And regular donations from lots of people is more secure a revenue source... The incentives are aligned... You care about this place, and you're funding it.

Can we have tags back then, please?
(This is a joke before you nuke my account).

Which is me having the (renewed) realisation that a lower value £ means that as all the bills are in $ the prices just went up by as much as the pound went down.
I forget this every time the currency is stable, and re-learn it every time the £ drops in value.

I've had to cancel my £20/month, trying to set up a £5/month instead but getting errors. Was able to donate a one time £5 successfully (well, I forgot to check the "monthly" checkbox) though... Will try to set it up again soon, maybe there's some kind of dupe transaction protection.

Ask King Arthur?
I wonder how many of those are during people's working day?!
