One of the local Conservative candidates came knocking earlier to see if we had voted. I told him I hadn't yet, but wouldn't be voting for him anyway.
After he'd gone, the 9 year old asked who it was at the door. I told her it was one of the Conservative candidates, to which she said, "I hope you told him to bog off!"

Are you saying you voted Tory today so you can complain? 😉

The Aontu party was added to the list as if we don't have enough of those fundamentalist Christian headmelters here.
Sign of a healthy democracy. But not getting my vote.

According to the People's Christian Alliance they are little more than splitters.

Away from elections, it would appear that Gus Fring has moved from chicken restaurants and meth to coffee pods and coke

Needs memeing. "Sad Tory" meme?

Everyday is a school day. Thanks. Perhaps a slightly niche reference for a mayoral election pamphlet.

I saw that earlier. A picture editor’s dream.

I live in an unwinnable Tory ward. Until now, my mate has been elected. Delightful!

Huge turnaround here in West Putney which is traditionally very blue (although we had a small boundary change that had some effect).
4 years ago it was: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018_Wandsworth_London_Borough_Council_election
- Con: ~53%
- Lab: ~28%
This year it was pretty neck and neck for Con/Lab with Labour getting 2 seats and Conservatives down from 3 to 1. https://democracy.wandsworth.gov.uk/mgElectionAreaResults.aspx?XXR=0&ID=55&RPID=12575669
(Different ways of reporting the %-ages, one doesn't take into account you had 3 votes.)
- Con: ~53%

Hopefully the change to a Labour run council will end the guff that the Tories spout about having the lowest council tax boroughs in the country as if it's because of some magical powers that the Tories have.
It's not because they're Tory run, it's mostly because of the density of the borough, the demographics and services, and the proportion of those that pay council tax in full.
(I also look forward to the expected rise in my council tax in order to start to properly fund local social care.)

First few results in Scotland are not looking positive for them. Tory holds but -15% up there so far.

With all this talk about windfall tax for energy companies I'm suprised nobody is talking about the Torys scrapping Petroleum Revenue tax in the 2016 budget. Used to bring in 0.5% of GDP in tax revenue iirc
EDIT:
Yup, 0.7% of GDP at peak, but zero rated in 2016.

Surely all the Tory losses mean is there will be a ramping up of NHS sell-offs, pensions raided, hacking at worker's rights, elimination of goods standards, end to independent judiciary, etc, as he now knows his days are numbered and he can't just brazen it all out through a GE.
Proper lol at the idea a 0.25% interest rate rise could tackle soaring inflation https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-61319867
