it ticks as the chain comes onto the top of the ring (only under load)
there's way more wax flaking off than i was lead to believe hence my too much wax theory... or maybe the chainring is just shit 🤷
In my experience it takes about ten minutes of riding to shed the excess wax.
That chainring is a narrow/wide? If so is the chain lined up with it right?
