  • Oh shit thought it was meant to show how it should be done...

It's meant to confuse you. Point of thread is to subtly move goalposts and slowly drive us mad

  • I don’t think that’s the case at all, if I may say so. It’s to illustrate that compact bars are not being set up as they were designed to be used. It’s actually one of the most helpful things on the internet.

Ritchey and Zipp bar diagrams attached. Both showing dip into hood position. I think Huls and I may have a preference for even more rotation, but the point is that there is a trend to set up compact bars under-rotated, mantis style, which compromises use of the drops, changes the fit on the bike by extending the reach and leads to a wrist angle that is not ergonomic.

It’s a shame that Zipp used SRAM AXS to illustrate set-up, but I can’t do anything about that I’m afraid.

  • You are mega helpful articulating what I am trying to say. Thx

  • Thanks for taking the time to explain. I have always thought the bottom of the drops should be parallel to the ground, as in your diagram, but found tilting them upwards helped alleviate nerve pain in my thumbs, neck and shoulders.
