  • It is not supposed to be level.

Ok. I've had a careful look back through the thread now and I think I understand the rules:

    -practicality / comfort not important
    -appearance not important
    -there aren't any rules
    -thread is a wind up

  • It's a Scrub Workhorse, weighs 52g vs Dura Ace 117g in 160. Specialized made the Atheis compatible with 160mm rotors only - front and rear as I understand ?

  • Ah, that makes more sense. Balance is restored

magnesium inner carrier and ceramic braking surface

Thanks for that. Not seen them before

  • Sigma should know better…

  • It’s strange how ugly setups generally are on proper marketing shots. It’s like none of them actually like bikes.

  • Jesus - that’s horrible.

I’ve no idea what the point of this thread is but for my own sanity, is this an example of BHDU?

  • Both or your pictures have bars too rotated up. I might add your handlebar tape is too thick, especially in a classic tubed frame.

  • They were set up to be ridden long distances. bar tape and angle are correct for intended purpose. I posted because I found it funny how wrong they looked in the context of this thread. The bulky modern shifters are much more of a problem aesthetically than the tape or bar angle IMO

  • No bars are actually fine. Maybe they should even rotate up a tiny bit. Levers are just ugly so not much else you can do.

  • Thanks. This has not clarified anything for me.

FWIW this not a readers and I don’t like those new Colnagos or Campagnolo’s hydro shifters.

  • I think some of this is predicated on a false assumption about correct form in the drops. Should be flat back, arms bent, forearms perpendicular to the road. Straights arms is unforgivable.

In correct form, you will be gripping the curve of the drops. Incorrect form, you will be gripping the bottom.

For clarification, this is a purely aesthetic and subjective criteria, and firmly tongue in cheek.

  • Right

  • Wrong

  • When I ride with bent elbows for more than an hour I get excruciating pain / cramp. The idea it's wrong to ride with straight arms is lols

  • You ride for more than in hour in the drops?

  • Average Joe Forum is only expected to hold World Tour Pro form for five minutes at a time.

  • You only need to ride like that for as long as it takes to get some pics for here and IG.

  • Been looking through my flickr and I can only apologise for the trauma I have caused hulsory over the years.

  • Ive never said anything. But yes it's not been great

  • Example of near perfect bar lever placement imo.

  • Versus this Parlee where bars need to rotate down a bit and levers need to stay where they are in relation to the stem/space but obviously that means moving up the bars the same amount as bars needs rotating down

  • I've attempted to rectify my situation yesterday but I need to undo the bar tape so I can't promise it will happen before summer. But having the bars angled down does indeed make the drops more comfortable, thanks for showing me the light.

  • Are those bars not tilted down too much? The bar ends are pointing towards the sky.

  • Example of near perfect bar lever placement imo.
