  • I haven't had a drink since 1986, and haven't used public transport since 2007

  • Thanks for that TED talk

  • No one had a booze snooze on a bus, waking with a jolt to jump off in Crystal Palace thinking that the ol contacts had dried a bit - only to remember you were wearing glasses.

And weren’t 100% sure this even was Crystal Palace given you lived in Clapham and in theory shouldn’t be in Crystal Palace after attempting to get home from Euston…

…and are too short sighted to read bus stop names or street signs above head height or the numbers on night buses still running?

Night I met my wife, that.

  • I first drank in 1986 and only use public transport.

  • One edgy. One not so edgy. Both enjoyable.

  • Colleague of mine got into a cab after a work Xmas party, asked to go to Borehamwood and promptly fell asleep. Was woken up to be told he was at the seafront and where did he want to go exactly. Cabbie had taken him to Bournemouth.

To be fair, I've had a minicab try to tell me that it was normal to go from Smithfields to Hendon via Harrow so I can't entirely rule out that the Bournemouth cabbie was taking the piss.

That sounds familiar, there was a moto courier back when I started who had to go via Kingston for any London delivery because that was the only way he knew. Not the end of the world for Bracknell-Ec3, not ideal for Maidenhead-W1 🙂

  • Last train out of Charing X to SE12 quite a few times worse for wear but always managed to wake up just as the train* stopped at Lee. Did try and open the door on the track side a couple of times.

    *the old slam door trains

  • Friend of mine (Adam) was out drinking and going into London Bridge station when he bumped into a not massively close mate of his who drove a black cab. The cabbie was most insistent that he drop Adam home despite Adams protestations that he was fine on the train. Eventually Adam gets in the cab and after about 15 minutes the cabby goes “you’re still in blackheath?”, the answer being “no ive moved to south of Bromley “, resulting in a very quiet cab ride for the rest of the way

  • I’m too old to fully understand what a meme is but I find this rather funny.

  • Sadly I don’t think it’s official US NPS (although I wish it was). https://instagram.com/subparparks?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

I was in glacier national park once when there was an unusually large calving event off the front of one of the glaciers. It was one of the most amazing sights I’ve seen but another tourist standing nearby turned to their partner and said “is that it?”.

  • Not related, but when I visited the Vatican, after walking through the Sistine Chapel, I overheard people bemoaning The Creation of Adam being too crowded by other paintings and they should really take it down for people to see better.

  • That's called domestic violence these days :p

I noticed such things aren't really shared among the younger, "haha wife bad" memes as my son calls them.

However he tells jokes I heard when I was his age so some things are timeless.

  • Perhaps I’m too old for memes? Or if I could edit the text to ‘partner’ it may be less offensive. Who knows? I’m getting too old for this world!😁

Are they actually Memes and not shit about falling asleep on London Transport?

    If so, post away.

  • I have a story about that... before the forum was a spark in our leaders eye... did a pub golf thing with a now member here... He came a respectable 2nd in the final. Next day he didn't get to work.. we reached out to him and he's fallen asleep on the train and woke up in devon/cornwall and had to spend the night

  • Always found it strange how about 50% of boomer comedy is based on hating your significant other. I think we've moved past that now.

More than 50% of boomer lifestyle is about hating something or other tbh.

  • was this at schroders mark?
