Not a CR720 fan here either.
V brake pads on a canti seems like a great idea but I've tried the 720s and some Avid Shorty and neither worked as well as a proper smooth post pad brake.
I tried a Suntour SE rear on one of my bikes a while ago and didn't really rate it but then I put one on Mrs M_V's latest bike and got it working really well so I'm trying one on the late 90's hardtail project I'm building just now.
