Dripping with quality. Seller describes it as 'track/fixie', but what's to stop it being a road with derailleurs?

but what's to stop it being a road with derailleurs?
Huh? No derailleur hanger or cable bosses, the wrong rear spacing and a very high bottom bracket
Oh and no brakes 😃 -
• #65704
Drill some holes for brakes or even better braze on some disc brake mounts, space out the rear drops to fit a 12 campag cassette, sky’s the limit

so nice. Been eyeing it up since it's gone up. unfortunately miles too small for me.

This person has a couple of Phil Wood wheels and a single rear (geared) for sale at a pretty decent price. I would snap them up if I was in the UK
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/334399390108
BTW - I have the same rear Phil and the freehub is brilliant - completely field serviceable and bomb proof... are hefty though

Bolt on derailleur hanger https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/gear-spares/shimano-compatible-rear-gear-hanger-bracket/
Sram wireless, no cable bosses
Push the rear triangles aparty for more spacing. It's fine with steel
High bottom bracket - does that matter?
Drill holes for rim brake calipers, or braze on some disc brake mounts.
I concede that it would be rather perverse. But I would do it, just for fun

All possible but definitely easier to just start with a different frame 😉

she often seems to sell her stuff on ebay. She sold her GB skinsuits a few years ago I think

Yes. But it's satisfying to bond with something by working on it. And after the apocalypse we won't be able to afford to waste track frames. It's time to learn how to mend and make do.
Having said all that, I've taken a dislike to the bike I made myself. Made the frame on Dave Yates' course, made the wheels at home, ever so slowly. It's all so heavy. I scorn it. Whereas I'm deeply in love with my third hand carbon Parlee.

• #65712
Compared to your Parlee I think most bikes would seem heavy!
-
• #65713
And so pretty. Compared to a steel frame it's a work of art. The way the tubes taper...

Dissenting vote over here.
A well made lugged frame (or even filleted if you swing that way) could never be beaten by an alu or carbon or ti in the looks department. -
