Yeah but it doesn't use up my holidays. So, win some lose some.

Can you enter a 600k Perm collecting receipts and also enter it as 2x300 DIYxGPS rides so that if you bailed on the 600, you could still claim the 300k DIYxGPS for the first half of the ride?

Yes.
-
• #11330
Yes, but I've seen people frowning upon it as 'not in the spirit'.
Eg I probably rode about 500km when I DNFd the Pendle 600, if only I'd set up a 300 and a 200 as 'insurance'! But I'm glad I didn't, it reflects the unfinished business etc

I get it, but it seems I'm now in a points battle, but I also want to have a crack at some more epic rides, so if it's not against the rules, I don't mind adding some insurance.
Going over-time on a lumpy 1400k and losing all those lovely points would be a proper shitter.

Question for the knowledgable. I'd like to ride Round the Plain as a perm on Saturday. It starts about 13km from where I live, which seems like a total dream. I can enter online by gps. Do I need to start and end at the start and end or can I just start and end at any point on the route? It's a big loop
I don't like the busy road to get to the start most efficiently and don't really want to ride 4k down a road to turn around to ride it again and then do it one more time at the end. Appreciate that's not a very audax attitude...

Most orgs don't seem to mind where you start, so long as you finish there too, but it's best to ask them.

As for entering a Perm and DIY at the same time, "Sorry no can do. You can only have one active brevet at a time." from DIY org. So, I need to decide what's more important, doing 'the ride' or gaining the AAAs.

Had been on the waiting list for Fast Times in the High Weald for some time, got a place this morning. I'm new to this game so didn't know about all this AAA nonsense. Fuck.

Same. I just sent the payment for the two of us (I mean me and the missus not you and me).
AAA = lumpier than usual
I will be riding off the back of a 1000k and a gig on the Thu before so will be Super Surly™ Apologies in advance.

Super - thanks!

He just climbs up and down the same thing though, which isn't the same as AAA where you can't repeat climbs. I have no interest in everesting type stuff where you just do the same climb over and over. Also, 93kg bro, come at me. Who's lifting the most weight into space... :D
What time period is that 1 million over? (now I want to look at my historic data)

AUK event regulations
5
An AUK event may not be ridden concurrently with any other event eligible for AUK awards. For clarity hippy, that means you can’t ride two brevets simultaneously. The only angle around that are ECE, where you can ditch the ECE brevet but still gain points from the calendar brevet.

Yeah, I emailed da bossman about it. I think I'll do it as DIYxGPS but still try and get around in the 'official' time limit and then I'll still have done 'the ride' just not official.

Is there a section that you would definitely complete regardless that has AAA points? If that's your aim, and aren't interested in the audax points of longer ride.

I got the idea he was doing it this year but I didn't read the details, it just sounded too mental.
-
• #11344
2,739m per day for a year. I mean, if the distance record is well over 300k per day then it's definitely feasible. He's welcome to it! I've got too much other shit to do :)
-
• #11345
The Year Mileage Record is >350km/day but on pan-flat roads.
-
• #11346
Yeah, my point is to get 2800m of climb per day you wouldn't have to ride anywhere near 350k so you're looking at maybe only 5-6hr riding per day depending on what hills you had access to (if it was me, I presume he's a lot lighter so could bust out 3000m a lot quicker)

I feel like this is gonna sound pissy but I did a DIY 100 that qualified for AAA points, but on my audax dashboard I haven't been allocated either AAA points or Audax points. The DIY organiser submitted my rider for AAA consideration via email but I've not heard anything back. Do I need to follow up with one or both to get the points on my completed events?

I've not heard anything back
This is audax life.

AAA points updates are sometimes months in between. If it's gone to the AAA guy I'd just wait.
