  • Have you got pics of clearance on the chainstay and fork blade?

    Looks great

    Got 32s on mine

  • Thank you @dadbike ! No idea why they stopped making it tbh, too mainstream? Too roadie? Very nice bikes though

@Maj the chainstays have loads of room, the fork less so but not quiet anxiety inducing - also a big fan of your pacer - you thinking about new tyres?

  • I wish this had been a 58 and I still owned it :(

  • Aha thank you, Not any time soon but it’s good to know for the future!

I think yours might have a slightly different fork than mine, I do not have the raised S crown, and you seem to have a touch more clearance top and side of the tyre.

Sure a surly historian in here can set the record straight

  • I wish I hadn't sold my 50 Pacer, I think that of quite a few of my bikes though.
    Life:(

  • Your loss has been my gain unfortunately, although the 58 size pacer does arguably look the best - why do smaller size surly’s always look so strange?

  • Pretty sure they changed the fork at some point because it didn’t give enough clearance for mudguards - when this happened I have no idea

  • Looks like a lot of fun!

  • No idea why they stopped making it tbh, too mainstream? Too roadie?

Not disc brakie enough I should think, is the steamroller the last rim brake bike they have, perhaps there's still a rim brake long haul too.

  • I wish I didn’t sell mine to, my 54 was probably the most comfortable road bike I ever ridden

  • Long horizontal top tubes, the 650b versions look a lot better imo

  • And the Cross Check, rioting in the streets when they take that out of the catalogue.

  • And the Cross Check,

I hadn't included that in the list as I'd read recently that it was being discontinued, but I can't find any reference to it now.

  • Did anyone on here pick up the pack rat that was on eBay?

  • Didn’t see that one, got a link?

  • It was a grey 56 frameset, someone posted the ad a few pages back. Was just curious if someone on here got it

  • been sitting in the shed for two years since i came off it:

  • Put some air in the tyres and it is staying in which is a good start. Schwalbe Marathon Supremes on Kinlin rims, tubeless.

  • New look:

  • Nice to breath new life into an ‘old’ bike

  • @ChasnotRobert sheesh that’s a slam!! Looks decent with the new bars though; cross check is such a versatile platform

  • If anyone is looking to offload a 56 (I'm 6ft, so that should be about right I think) 'roller, preferably black let me know? Looking for frame or frame and fork.

Also after a 26 disc trucker fork

  • by the sea

  • handsome bike

  • Thanks. Quite like it with the risers on. Might swap over to the slightly longer stem that was on the drop bars.
