Oh hey. Glad to have been of help. I'm in West London now but trying to buy a house so who knows where I'll end up.

i think Caffeine mag did a thing about the ikawa on their podcast?
-
• #22704
Sweet, I'll give it a listen and send it to my BiL.

If you want to avoid stalling then get a Clever dripper. Drawdown for a full 250ml cup in under a minute with the water first technique and pretty cheap compared to other drippers

That’s a good shout - I’ll look into it!

Can anyone recommend a good decaf filter? All the ones I've found seem to be more espresso focused.
-
• #22712
If you want to go big money Friedhats or The Barn have a low caf omni roast right now. Might be a better bet than looking for decaf.

What's the best hand grinder for filter that isn't a table mounted thing like the weber HG-1 or one of those mad orphan espresso joints.

Rhino?
https://rhinocoffeegear.com/rhinowares-compact-hand-grinder-with-aeropress-adaptor.htmlI have one I use for aeropress, but can be adjusted to a courser grind easy enough

I've got a Rhino and am happy with it, there's the Timemore C2 (think that's what it's called at least) that seems to be better regarded than the Rhino and Porlex and is pretty cheap too.

I should have said, I currently have an aergrind, so want something better than that.
Currently vibing the 1zpresso K-Max

I have a Kinu and rate it highly
-
• #22718
I’ve got a Kinu but heard Commandante is better for pour over. I’ve not been super impressed with Kinu for pour over tbh. It’s good, but I didn’t find it a significant step up from my Baratza Virtuoso (I think I actually prefer the Baratza truth be told).
That’s without the ‘brew burr’ though.

If you’re going reyt fancy the 1zpresso stuff aimed at pour over is hard to beat I believe.
This chart is helpful if you haven’t seen it.
-
• #22720
Went for the 1zpresso, thanks for the chart. Did briefly consider the Kinu but also heard it's meant to be a bit naff for pourover.

Enjoying the Granja La Esparanza Colombia beans (hybrid washed process) from Yellow Bourbon. Made with v60.

Anyone into dark (traditional continental style) roasts; these beans are what I currently rate for espresso in a milk drink:
-M&S Fairtrade Peruvian beans £3.50/250g
-Whittard Cafe Francais £8/250g
-Waitrose Ueshima Fuji Mountain £4/250g -

Mont58 "the wakeup call" is fantastic for continental style darker roast.
Had two mugs of it with some Jersey gold top this morning. Propa nawty

Ueshima tends to be my go-to these days.
Fuji Mountain is the best of their trio, but the others are OK too -

Cheap 1Zpresso grinder on the go over on coffee forums. Not mine, but I thought it might appeal to some folks on here.
Hope you're well btw (This is Matt from Asteys)
