• What would be the best way of upgrading an alloy cantilever CX frame for maximum performance, relative to price?

    Option 1: Vintage Dura-ace 7970 10 speed Di2 and some Avid Shorty Ultimate cantis
    Option 2: SRAM Red AXS drivetrain with Magura HS33 brakes
    Option 3: Bar ends and carbon wheels

    The answer will need to take into account parts availability, down shifting speed, price and comfort.

  • is buying a carbon cantilever frameset an option ?

  • Bang for buck;
    Option 3 for me.
    I ran some nice wheels on my SWorks tricross with 10 speed da mechs and 105 flightdeck shifters and it was fab, it didn’t stop, but it rode great. If I’d changed to bar ends and the right levers it would have been aces.

  • maximum performance

    Cantilever brakes

  • Campagnolo 12s with magura rim brakes would be amazing.

    But probably 105 and the avids would be the most sensible.
