  • Annoying seller has taken the nicely integrated door mat with them.

  • One of our cats went AWOL on moving day (but pointing out that my idea of closing the cat flap the night before to avoid that issue did not go down well in an already stressed environment). Which meant ms_com had to stay behind to try and nab said cat. But of course with all the people going in and out, turning the place upside down, the fucker was well hidden. Which meant the original plan of ms_com greeting the movers at the new place and directing them where to put each meticulously planned box, was out the window. Cue everything being dumped in two rooms, which meant we weren't unpacked for months and stuff was a nightmare to find during that time.

Cat still didn't appear by the time we thought we'd messed our buyer round enough (they were VERY accommodating). So we left the catflap on "in only" and asked the buyer to call us if a tabby appeared. I then had to go round at 9pm later that day to retrieve a scared tabby from this poor person's new spare room. Thankfully they didn't piss or shit anywhere.

Same cat is still insisting on shitting and pissing in random places here, even though she'll happily spend all day outside. Part of me wishes she had have stayed gone.

  • Wardrobe won't fit up the stairs / round the bend

  • The Nunney option is closer to Babbington ;)

  • Sellers have left a load of crap in the house.
    Sellers have taken lightbulbs.
Sellers have taken keys to a locked door.
You can't find the box you put the kettle in.

    Have fun!

  • all the mattresses have been pushed in the loft, one of them is blocking the hatch

  • Frozen sausages firmly in the lawn

  • Sellers have taken the actual house with them.

  • wow how do you know our sellers? They still keep coming for their letters.

  • I would start returning them to sender. You're not a PO depot, FFS.

  • My BIL recently moved house and had to spend 6 hours sitting in the pub down the road (after getting the keys) because the lady who sold the house was too sad and didn't want to leave. It took her husband the best part of the day to convince her not to stage a sit in protest.

This is a month after they were delayed from completing / moving on the eve of the first move date as someone further up the chain forgot they had horses and hadn't done anything about arranging them to move with them.

You cannot prepare for the nonsense that can / will go wrong today.

  • because the lady who sold the house was too sad and didn't want to leave

    ffs i HATE PEOPLE

  • Both parts of that story are amazing. People really are bonkers.

  • Depending on the specifics of that I could have some sympathy.

Our sellers just couldn't get their shit together and took fucking ages to get out and still left us with a mess. I expect karma to sort that out though.

  • Fully mental.

Very happy that our last (and hopefully final for a long time) move was super straight forward. First time buyers with large deposit buying ours > moving to a new build.

@Howard - they were just a couple moving house. They'd been there for around 20 years but it's not like they were being forced to sell or moved into a home. They decided to sell, the process sorting the chain was around 7 months and then, on the last day, she decided she didn't want to move.

Shouldn't have fucking sold it then.

  • i would have started piling up the boxes and furniture around her.
then the thrash metal goes on till she fucks off.

  • i would have started piling up the boxes and furniture around her.

Outta my way old woman, this is an empathy-free zone!

  • Specifics depending I can definitely have sympathy although if they actively chose to sell rather than having their hand forced such as a large inheritance tax bill then it’s fair game and they can >>>>>>

  • i don’t have kids so Plan A of bribing the youngest to sit on the floor playing and looking up doe-eyed to the old bat saying “i love my new house” means plan B. Rammstein on repeat at max volume.

  • having their hand forced such as a large inheritance tax bill

Complaining about IHT in the presence of the £1 mm residence nil rate band can >>>

  • She had 7 months to be sad. There were no reasons to sell other than they wanted to move.

Ruining someone else's day and causing massive stress, not to mention having to unload a large moving van at 9pm because of it can >>>>>>>>>>

  • Don’t be a Cumnock.

  • Ruining someone else's day and causing massive stress,

Dunno, six hours in the pub sounds pretty good to me. (tongue firmly in cheek)

I'm sure she was just being a massive dick...but unless you know otherwise, you can't rule out some kind of mental health issue or they (the couple) were never really aligned on moving and she just didn't think it would happen.

We've had the luxury of really fucking wanting to move because we'd totally outgrown where we were, twice. Further down the line, in a family home, I can imagine it's a process tinged with at least some sadness and regret.

  • I'm not trying to excuse people not getting their shit together, mind.

  • Jeez you lot are hard hearted.
Our 2 girls were born in the kitchen of the house we sold.
The second one we had to deliver all by ourselves in a pool!
Had some good memories there and it was very sad to leave.

Having said that I was out the door by midday.
