  • Lazarus heist

Really enjoying this. Thanks. Would recommend.

  • Anyone else listen to The Lex Friedman Podcast? He has Mark Zuckerburg on soon and keeps saying that Putin is coming on soon, can't wait to hear Lex ask Vlad for his views on love and if it will save the world while avoiding mentioning Ukraine

  • Really enjoyed this. Ta 👍wish there were more like this outthere on conspiracy / politics stuff.

  • I guess "You're Wrong About" and "Maintenance Phase" are a bit like that. But they're are very... ummm... of their style.

"Things Fell Apart" on R4 about the origins of various culture war topics was quite good I thought. Not the same, but elements of the same vibe and a more balanced presentation than You're Wrong About.

  • Been enjoying The Trojan Horse Affair about 2013's Operation Trojan Horse, and where the original letter detailing the Islamist plot to take control of Birmingham schools came from. Part of the Serial umbrella so pacing and storytelling are locked down!

  • @General_Lucifer kracken cove 73. Sucking on the mop.... 😂😂😂😂 Had me in tears of laughter. Ta mate had a shyte day at work this cheered me up no end.
Also that whole brain function at death thing is mental.
    Keep up the good work

  • Thanks man!! It’s been pretty mental recently so felt good to get a new show out. Honestly, we could just do a show on Benny’s past jobs. He’s done every low paid weird job on the list and more. His C.V. looks like the ramblings of a madman.

  • Overheard a chap telling his mate about a podcast that sounded a bit bonkers the other day.
A dude apparently goes into a coma and when he comes out of it he reckons he had woken up in the early 1900s before waking up at some point a couple hundred years in the future from now.
Can't find it from googling though

  • What's going on with BBC podcasts? Looks like they're exclusively on the super shitty BBC Sounds app for a month after release but I've not seen any articles about it.

  • :) I know the feeling working as a cleaner atm but i wont be sucking on any mucky mops. I really mean it you and Benny pulled me out of a angry ball of work related bullshit and i realised i was annoyed over fuck all after a good chuckle. Thanks owe you and Benny a pint

  • @General_Lucifer when's the first live podcast? I'll head over Sheffield way or similar for that and similarly owe you both a pint.

  • It’s ace to know people are loving the podcast!! 75 episodes now. It’s hard work but a bloody good laugh doing it. Benny never fails to make me laugh!

  • I somehow totally missed that you have a podcast, whats it called please?

  • This dude's story is a rollercoaster

  • I’m a sucker for a mix of true crime/paranormal and history so love Morbid, anything Bailey Sarian does, Sinister Societies and Appalachian Monsters & Mysteries.
The latter is pretty poorly researched but worth it for the glorious southern accents alone.

  • I've been enjoying Ridiculous Crime lately.

  • Really enjoyed Mafalda's appearance on Peel Acres, the podcast exploring John Peel's record collection - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0015m6l

  • Last night I started listening to The rest is history with Dominic Sandbrook and Tom Holland, for which I have very high expectations.

The first proper episode, which would have been recorded some time ago, discussed greatness. As I suppose is to be expected, the two participants have several disagreements as to what constitutes greatness, and which historical figures can properly be considered to be great.

One of the few figures they both agree can be described as great, or at least they concur will be considered as great in the future, is Vladimir Putin.

Which I guess goes to show history can catch you out sometimes, even if you're an eminent historian.

  • I really enjoyed the Jon Ronson podcast Things fell apart. Pretty much binged it in 2 days - he’s definitely good at taking on super polarising subjects and some of the origin stories it goes into about culture war subjects throughout the ages are really well told.

Also enjoying Lex Fridman as always but I’m slightly skeptical about his repeating that he’s going to have Putin on (he’s been saying this for at least 2 years). He’s not. Putin will 100% not appear on this, I suspect Lex has been led on by some dodgy contact.
