  • Full Campagnolo C Record

    Clearly not

  • Nice collection of classic Campagnolo, Chorus brakes, NR hubs, NR Superleggeri pedals.
Using what works instead of being trendy!

  • I have a long overdue project of a KG231 - I have assembled a Campy groupset and wheelset but with two small children I just can't ever make the time to properly start the project - first step of which is a repaint job (I even have the decals!). I've given up hope of having time to do it myself, so I would happily pay someone to strip, paint and assemble so it can relive its former glory - any recommendations for someone who's done this sort of late-90's LOOK paintwork sympathetically (or anyone up for the job?). Really tired of having it sitting around not being rideable :(

  • In the same boat over here with an elderly carbon project... have you built it up and ridden it before? maybe worth doing so you know it fits and you like it before committing the monies and time to making it look good... just my 2p

  • I have an ergostem, so IT WILL FIT :P
I tend to have an unshakeable belief that my flexible and lithe frame can adapt to any bike, but having just turned 40 (!) I should probably actually check. Maybe I'll just ride it with it's crappy paint :(
If I was to strip it, would Nitromors do the job or do I need something more powerful? (or less powerful!? - don't want something that will mess with the vintage crabonz!)

  • maybe less powerful! got any photos of it as is?
Would a clean, T-cut, touch up and re-lacquer do the job?

  • It wasn't as bad as I remembered but I am just not sure where to get started. All this was done by previous owner so I don't even have a feel for what the end product should look like IRL aside from pictures..

  • I believe I used to own that! It’s a tall 58cm right? It came to me from eBay from a guy in Orpington - it had a black rattle can paint job over the yellow lugs, I got some of the black off with acetone - might be worth trying that in the first instance… the cable route covers will just pop off the frame as they are super glued if I recall correctly…

  • i have a similar condition KG231, one issue with stripping is that the carbon tubes are not very resistant to abrasion, it just seemed to me that the helix wound carbon tow is easily sanded into and requires great care, more so than models higher up the range with a twill weave. Complete decal sets dont seem to be available for the model so you're likely going to lose some of the original logos. Id follow mattyc advice but buy pure acetone and use a little at a time on a clean bit of cloth.

  • ha ha you're right - I'd forgotten it was from you (maybe via someone else first?)... maybe I'll just have a go and see what the result is...it's never going to be perfect is it?
Would T-cut work in this situation... not really familiar with that kind of thing...

  • Does anyone has a "non ergostem" stem for 396/496 in stock (120/130m)

    For my 396

  • try acetone first, that should lift most of the remaining black paint - I've never T-cut a frame before but that is maybe what I'd look into...

  • Hi check this link - price is not suuuuuper cheap but still fair imho:

    https://www.velodromeexpert.fr/produit/potence-look-496/

On that note: is your seat post clamp stock yellow or painted?

    Cheers

  • Oh thanks

Didn't have the idea to check there. It's actually in front of the velodrome where the bike is used...

Yes my seatpost clamp is yellow from factory

  • Out of curiosity, tu bosses chez Alesia Cycles?

  • Oui et non

I'm a wheelbuilder and my workshop is in the basement of Alésia cycles. So yes I'm there when I'm not at auber93

And I'm a little bit involved in some builds of the shop...

  • OK!

  • Bargain 58cm Campagnolo equipped 585 on Facebook market place, not mine but I’d not have said anything if it was a 56cm

  • Ohh that sounds interesting , alas I am not on Facebook . Please do not tell me it is Mondrian colour :)

  • No it’s not… I’d still be tempted just for the group… https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/679643756421327/

  • Wow that is cheap . Bargain for someone , but I do not need a road bike that much at the moment , unless it is Mondrian :)

  • That orange wishbone stay one is a banger

  • Well, that saves any argument because I dibs the cream one with the bars emanating from the fork crown
