Be interesting if that house was bought by an individual as a residence or by a company based in the British Virgin Islands
-
• #4128
It can actually be a bit of a grey area if occupied for protest
Really dependent on the scale of things and how the courts/cops a feeling about it I think
I don't know the law, so that may be right, but obviously in this case we don't know enough to say what's going on. With a house like that, wouldn't you expect staff to live there permanently, so that it wouldn't be unoccupied? Also, did the protesters just enter it to protest, or did they claim squatters' rights? I'd guess that they could be removed in either case, although I'm sure it may well be more complicated than that.

“This is not ordinary squatting, this is property liberation,” one of the squatters said.

Yeh this looks totally proportional
Well, it's always like this in Central London, as anyone who has protested there will know. NB that doesn't make it right.

The Cipressa isn't that hard

wouldn't be unoccupied?Expect? Maybe not, seems like a safe spot. Until you're in the spotlight I suppose. Either way I don't think it's a major worry for the owner. Maybe they assumed that the reaction would be heavy.
claim squatters' rights?
Doubt this is what happened.
A short lived but symbolic approach I guess.they could be removed in either case
Yeah, most cases I'd imagine.

It's probably impossible to pay those staff and possibly illegal for them to accept the money.

Yep, I would have been out the door with a couple of candlesticks to cover wage arrears when the threat of sanctions hit.

I got chatting to the captain of Abramovich's old yacht, the Luna, in about 2005 when it was moored in Girona

Top ten material there.

• #4137
Mooring a yacht in Girona is an impressive feat. They must've hit the coast at some speed.

You can get a yacht upstream on the Riu Ter, right?
-
• #4139
I'd be interested to know if you can get an oligarch sized yacht as far up as Girona.
My guess would be that you can't, but that's just a guess.
Not that I will ever actually need to know this.

• #4140
I have been to Girona once, and having done quite a lot of fish spotting whilst there I'd say absolutely not a chance. Maybe you'd get the launch through.

Ha!
And for clarity... you can't. Not as far as Girona, anyway.

At Berk Cashmere we are obsessed with the life enhancing benefits of real cashmere; the most precious of all fibres.
I guess that is what my life has been missing. I am not sure how it will enhance my life, but at around £400 for a cardigan, it has to be worth a go. I don't think I will ever look back.
