I'd have thought this would technically be a civil dispute?
Squatting residential property was criminalised by the ConDems in 2012.

Edit - might be too late, it would seem the police have gone in. I'd have thought this would technically be a civil dispute? Or at least they could certainly treat it that way. Assume some of the neighbours don't like it and called their mates to get the coppers to sort it.
