  • We're looking for a similar thing - current top of the pile is the T59TF6RN0 but only because we haven't really looked into the Miele ones.

I know @dancing james is a fan of the touch screen Neff, has anyone used the 'twistpad' type?

  • @Acliff i don’t want to spend £1000 on a hob though!
£500-£600 would be about as much as i want to pay.

i actually have a half width Neff induction which was an extortionate £550
(small kitchen and the only way to get all the under counter appliances plus comply with 30cm from an upright unit/wall)

  • You can get the matching half width Neff dual gas burner then? I think they're about £450? You'll also need the joining strip, and plumbing for gas and plug for electricity for ignition.

No decent brand dominos are cheap, and anything with a dual fuel induction/gas is £1000+.
I spent ages and ages searching for my kitchen.
The cheapest dual fuel hob is the AEG at around £750. But it doesn't have the fancy dual linked cooking zones and is 90cm wide.
The Smeg one that I had has a 6kw wok burner, which I preferred over the 5kw one on the AEG.

  • Yes we have a twist pad thing, works as you would expect 99.9% of the time. Only gripe is if you have 5 things going at once, it's annoying if you want to adjust lots of them quickly.

  • I presume this is something the separate sliders do well? What about the full digital displays in the snazzy ones (eg the one I linked ^^)

  • The Miele is probably top of my list. I definitely like the idea of Full surface rather than expanded zoning, and touchscreens just seem something else to go wrong. 11kW so more powerful than some
Miele seems the cheapest too so think that's the direction I'm headed.

  • “You can get the matching half width Neff dual gas burner then? ”
no its in a different property not the one with a new kitchen to sort, can’t be arsed to move it what with having to find and fit a cheaper replacement and maybe have to get worktop cut etc..
think it’s going to be just gas then unless something turns up in a sale.

  • Just replaced our rubbish Indesit (knew it was rubbish, bought new but constantly rotating food, replacing seal, swapping shelves etc but didn't realise how rubbish until we replaced it) with a second hand barely used AEG and what a difference - not sure if they're easy to come by but we paid £100 for it although I had to convert if from hardwire to 3-pin plug (and ensure I never have everything on ie steam function, fan top/bottom heating and full temp - which i never would - as max output just above 13 amp). 8 weeks and it's bloody ace

  • I would have been generally happy with gas, but wanted to play around with induction.

You could always get a freestanding induction hob, for extra cooking surface if needed?

  • I don’t really hang out on this particular thread, so maybe this isn’t that unusual, but:

We’ve just got a new dishwasher, and it projects a readout of what it’s up to onto the kitchen floor.

Who the fuck ever needed that?

Not I... mine's a smart dishwasher that sends a push notification to my phone to tell me it's ready.

I don't know how people ever existed having to switch stuff on and off with buttons.

This is the reason to have children.

  • That and a ready supply of tissue compatible organs :)

  • Brand/model or this is a Photoshop....

  • “Who the fuck ever needed that?“
thats one of my life goals, never had a dish washer, never needed one.
but new place has the room for one so it has to have its shizzle projected on the floor.

  • It's a Bosch.

    No idea of the model.

  • Dishwashers are amazing.
Saves water, energy, time, particularly when you have 4 people in the house and there is more working from home.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner lots of plates/cutlery/cups/cooking vessels take an age to wash up.

I have a Bosch projected timer, completely unnecessary, but it has some uses, like knowing when the wash cycle has finished and it’s just drying, so you can take out something you might need urgently.

  • If you need it urgently you take it out regardless.

  • Had a quick look in the search but couldn't find much.

We bought a Kitchenaid Artisan just after Christmas, managed to use it three times before it packed up.

It's currently back with them, who are out of stock of the required parts - so I'm hoping for an exchange/refund.

Is kitchenaid the go to? partner choose it, partially due to how it looks.

  • I've had my Kenwood chef for 10 years now. Not as pretty but does the job.
Kenwood have been churning variants out for 70 years so pretty confident they fit for purpose.

  • I had three kitchenaid heavy duty mixers shred the worm gear on me. Each time I asked if I could upgrade to a professional. Twice they fixed it but third time they offered a direct replacement didn’t have my mixer in stock so gave me a credit note and I then got the professional with the ludicrous safety cage. It’s a beast but is quieter and way more powerful which is useful for when running attachments like the sausage maker, pasta roller and ice cream bowl.

The normal consumer units have a plastic safety worm gear that self destructs if the machine is jammed. Annoyingly mine shredded itself when milling flour, making sausages and pasta. The professional ones don’t have the safety plastic gear but instead are way more powerful with a direct drive motor. Most people shred the worm gear when trying to knead too much dough etc. However sometimes there is an internal alignment issue which causes unexpected failure which I think is what led to mine repeatedly failing. However their customer service was great, courier collected broken ones all under warranty.

  • Second vote for kenwood chef. They've been around for ages and can be found second hand too
