not an issue whatsoever ime. maybe if you stop at the side of the road - near water - at dawn or dusk - in the high summer months... can't say I've had any issue with them though. do sometimes have issues with flies/flying ants, when cycling in lanes during summer months but no more than you'd expect in other parts of the country, I'd venture
