In 2010 I paid £5k for the Mac Pro 6 core with 512mb SSD. £4k for the Ultra is pretty decent in comparison. I don't think I need it but I want it. The £1800 difference and longer wait was enough to put me off.
If I was looking for a bargain I'd be waiting for the Mac Mini M1's to start coming up second hand later in the month.
