Looks like a jumping hour (the number that looks like a date window) and the minute hand is retrograde (it jumps back to zero at the top of the hour). So in that picture the time is 6:33.

They always were and always should be. Like the Pelagos. Dots with snowflake hands is a weird anomaly that started with the Black Bay.

So you didn't read my posts. Please have another look. And I've nothing against reasonably priced Swiss watches. I'm wearing my Victorinox today. A Valjoux 7750 for £475.
I'm not sure why I bother really. The people who reply to my posts don't read them, or they do read them and don't comprehend them. There are lots of bright people at LFGSS, but maybe they stick to the threads about cycling.

I only noticed it when someone here mentioned it... It was probably you too 😂

As a purist I agree. Kills the whole black bay range for me.

Mate you are aware I sell watches for a living right?
Rolex and Omega et al aren't just funding the lavish lifestyle of grand prix drivers. They are putting my daughter through university . -

Your weight weenie tourer thread is fantastic but on this one you come over as really chippy and abusive so perhaps you might want to heed your own advice about sticking to threads about cycling
-
• #61610
I didn't know that. But obviously you get a free pass to reply to posts without reading them. And when you sell a Rolex it would be nice if you could give people an itemised bill to say how much of the price goes on tuition fees.

When people are abused they can get abusive. See the accusation of racism, supported by multiple people in this thread. See also the number of people in this thread who rushed to my defence.

On a cycling note then , do we really want to look at the same issues between the so called premium bike brands and a cheaper but just as adequate less expensive bike . What makes my Cervelo so much better than ( and therefore more expensive ) than my mates specialized ?
Oh and victorinox is a knife brand just so as you know and I used to sell them until we stopped because they were shit as they had so many warranty issues. -
• #61613
You’re coming across as a straight knob now. You’re just banging on about fakes and some whack victorinox with a broken date wheel, maybe this isn’t your kind of thread?
-
• #61614
Oh and I for one don't think you have any racist issues with the Chinese .
I am worried about your attitude towards the Swiss however. -
• #61615
Abused? You’ve suggested that people who like expensive Swiss watches lack emotional intelligence and intimated that people who don’t agree with your posts can’t comprehend them.
So perhaps abusive is the wrong word but condescending and chippy are a decent fit.

abusive are we ? Ok yes , then for the tuition fees jibe Fuck you .
Please don't threaten me with violence, it would get ugly.
yes I did read your posts before commenting. -

It used to be so peaceful here.

I think we already have those conversations. There's a pretty keen awareness of value about bicycles here. Cyclists are not shy about criticising each other's bike choices. Discussions often have an edge of 'all the gear and no idea', or 'cycling is the new golf'. There are also plenty of discussions about Chinese products, goor or bad, real or fake. I'm just trying to bring the same analysis to watches, which I tend to do with pretty much everything. I like to analyse and I'm fascinated by psychology. Rolex has a very strong psychological pull. It must be one of the most persuasive brands there is. Don't you find it interesting? You must see people with that Rolex gleam in their eye every day.
I agree with you about Victorinox. I think the design of my chrono shows a sad lack of understanding. Unless I get it modified and serviced, it's a catch and release.

Thank you for that, I appreciate it.

Too right. I was expecting a bit of normality during these crazy times…
Anyway, watches

I've been thinking about that a fair bit. I knew about the raids but assumed they were mostly a PR exercise and people would get away with a fine, if that. It was shocking to find out that there are already people serving long sentences. It's particularly upsetting because there's zero sympathy for them in the rep forums. I was told to shut up about it. The only issue under discussion is 'dammit, my choice of fakes has narrowed'. Guilt-free consumption, yay.
Then I read a 2015 report claiming that 20% of consumer goods made in China are counterfeit https://www.wongfleming.com/wp-content/uploads/COUNTERFEITING-IN-CHINA.html and a number of stories about Jack Ma calling for prison sentences for counterfeiters. Looks like he got his wish. But people still want to work in fake watch factories and dealerships, so presumably it's not the worst job. Or perhaps for some people it's the only job available. So they would prefer that we keep buying. I'm in two minds. There's a Patek 5726 fake I'd rather like. But I might stick to gens from here on.
