What time is it? Watches and horology

Yeah it's a really deep blue and @Regal this one only has the Zaratsu on the bezel and shoulders and the rest is brushed so hopefully not too shiny and i was warned the high polish doesn't wear scratches too well and I'm hoping this will fair better. Am I hoping for a lot from a watch I've not tried on? Only time will show how well the finish holds up. I had a new explorer on this week just to get myself at it and that was the perfect amount of shine for me but tried on a second hand aqua terra and an old explorer and they weren't shiny enough. So here's hoping 🤞

Zaratsu polish is great. Getting scratched / tarnished over time is part of the charm.

It’s the dial furniture and hands that will jump out at you. You’re spot on though, GS models with the brushed bracelet and the tops of the lugs brushed are quite different to the 44GS style with the huge mirror polished slab sides.

I did manage to try on one of the 60th anniversary models which had polished bands running through the bracelet which was a bit shiny and triple my budget but i did fall in love with the midnight blue dial. In low light it looks black but can look deep blue, brighter blue even purple or dark green in some lights. I'll try and get some good pics when it arrives.
I think this is shiny the one i tried on that was a bit OTT but mine will have the same blue dial

‘Them’ yep good one - Chinese people are not all the same despite what some people think. Your use of language like the above classing them as one, when describing them as ‘stealing IP’ or ‘not paying proper wages’ is in my opinion troubling at best. Accusations of racism most definitely warrant violence. It's not a trivial subject.

If someone accuses you of being racist you should ask yourself why. By taking such extreme offence it just smacks of white privilege

I disagree. Anyone who studies the Chinese watch industry as much as me would agree that I'm being accurate. And if I'm biased against the Chinese, why would I keep buying their watches?

‘The Chinese’ aren’t a monolith. I think therein lies a fair amount of peoples umbrage with what you are saying.
