  • Blue with gold wheels compulsory. None of this understated black bullshit.

  • Oh yes all the way.

  • And the mandatory exhaust that doubles as an overnight lodging for the homeless.

  • I was looking at one of the later 2.5t Titanium Mondeos, 5 cyclinder engine sounded quite fruity.

  • Chap in Walking Bottom had a V8 A6 Allroad. I do miss that noise.

  • Anyone fitted an Android auto compatible head unit recently? Interested to hear what you want for and why.

A Chinese unit and DIY are tempting for price but not for the potential headache.

  • Is it me, or does this front bumper look like it's a different colour to the rest of the car?

  • front bumper doesn't match rear bumper and neither of them match the rest of the car.

    How have they managed that?

  • How are you back looking at estates already?!

Painting bits as and when, whilst wearing sunglasses, at a guess.

I find driving my van is actually great fun, from a visibility, comfort, and convenience perspective. For example I cleaned my bike, dried it and stowed it in the van just before the heavens opened, drove home. It's now ready and waiting, clean and dry, for tomorrow.

    But it's so slow.

  • Are there no ways of making it faster?

Stripes down the middle, large spoiler, neon under lighting etc.

  • I have spoken with a mapper (MSL) but frankly they really seem not to want to have anything to do with it, which when your usual day of work is made up of twin-turbo V8's I suppose is understandable.

I think that the changes required to make it fast would be (even for me) ridiculous - literally a new and different engine, likely the one from the S400D, and that would probably require the transmission from said car to go with it as it's got 700Nm of torque.

Therefore I think I'm better off keeping the van as-is, trading it for an EV version in a few years, and getting my jollies with something else that's a little more "pop to the shops" than the 996.

  • This one appears to be a single colour.

  • Re: mapping - Pendle Performance are popular in Transporter circles and seem to have a go at pretty much anything.

  • £50k bills in 42k miles!

  • 3.0 jag x type makes more BHP and it is nicer inside.

There is an AWD one too, but has gearbox issues to keep an eye on.

  • Cruiser more than a sports car, get the limo version.

  • £50k bills in 42k miles!

Averages out at just under £3,000 per service, which is, erm, not cheap.

But, getting toward if not actually at "find another one".

  • Why not lease a electric car? Fast. Also seems the ideal car.

  • Anyone bought complete LED fog light units from Ali? Was thinkng something like this:
    https://www.amazon.fr/Qiilu-voiture-antibrouillard-diurne-course/dp/B079FV66SM/

  • Hire car fun times. 1.0l 3cyl. Some weird, laggy drive by wire throttle. I'd much rather be in my 2007 C Max.

  • We have a couple of these Arona FRs as courtesy cars. There's a mode switch on the centre console you can then switch to sport on the screen. It drives snatchy and quick then. If that's your bag.

  • Good to know. Only have the drive back to the airport left tomorrow but will have a look.

  • I had one of these in hatchback form. Sadly the 2 previous cars I owned were an Accord Type-r and an R32, so the Mondeo never quite matched up. Nice enough though
