Yes. Just knock the gloss off it with some 1500 grit wet and dry.

Cracking, thanks!

Is there any way I can use these brakes on my new flat mount frameset?
The new frame takes 160mm rotors

Yes, there are adaptors that allow post mount callipers to be mounted on flat mount frames.

Flat to post adapters are plenty but it's always a lottery trying to figure out what rotor size you'll end up needing I find.
-
• #111583
The adapters are ugly but they'll go with the brakes.

Why doesn't my TV talk to my new PVR box? They are connected with a HDMI cable. My TV used to talk happily to my old PVR box, which was connected with a SCART cable. But my new PVR only has HDMI

HDMI-CEC port on the telly? Might need turning on in the settings if it is but it's not working.

Thanks, I'll try it!

I need to urgently send a small package (medical sample) from Leyton to Marylebone, right now.
Would this be a job for a cycle courier? I’ve never used one... where do I start?

Book online https://pedalme.app/ An excellent company. Plenty to read here https://twitter.com/pedalmeapp I've used them once. Amazing rider. Superhuman.

Thanks!
Rider collected an hour late and it cost nearly twice what Addison Lee quoted, but I’m hoping this is an outlier...
-
• #111590
Well, they're hiring, growing fast, probably short-staffed. But the bill sounds like bad news. Perhaps worth querying? Tell them what Addy Lee quoted too.

I've got some Race Face Evolve XC cranks (~2007) and I've bought a spindle spacer rebuild kit as the last time I used them a few years ago they had some wobble. I have no idea where to put or how many spacers I need though. I've struggled to find a manual online, all the links on the RF website are dead.
I've got 3 solid 1mm spacers (the red and 2 right black ones) and one squishy rubber 2mm one (left). Going into a Shimano HT MTB BB on a 68mm shell with 3 BB spacers.Any ideas anyone?

Hermes 'delivered' a parcel to a wheelie bin yesterday. Dropped a card through the door saying it was in an outbuilding, then wheeled the outbuilding up the path, which is a pretty obvious indicator that there's a parcel in it.
I got back at 10pm to an empty bin.The reference on the calling card isn't recognised by their tracking. Their customer service (lolz etc.) options are all automated and require a recognised tracking reference.
I'm not sure what the delivery would have been, so don't know which retailer to chase.
Anything I can do, or just be thankful that whatever has been stolen I apparently wasn't expecting anyway. Customer service email I expect, and prepare for a disappointing experience...

We had a similar note through our door, no idea what the parcel was, Hermes were shit. Kept telling me that I needed to get the seller to contact them, even though I didn't know who the seller was.

They go right at the ends of the axle next to the crank. You'll have to assemble it to make the decision how many and what side. Basically once it's tightened up, see how far the axle slips side to side to decide how many you need and measure the distance to the stays on each side to decide what side(s) to put them on.
Bear in mind if it's a threaded 68mm shell with three spacers to take it up to 73mm, if you're using plastic spacers it's common for them to compress and cause side to side movement. Metal spacers solve this.
Also bear in mind if you've got the threaded Race Face Team XC bottom bracket, they've got notoriously poor bearings in them. Wrong type of bearing for a bb or something. Check the play is actually in the axle and not a shagged bearing. Swapping to a Shimano BB52 solves this.

Very helpful, thank you. Any idea about the rubber one? Seems like it would just compress/bind if it was on the axle?
I've got metal spacers and it's a Shimano BB70, so all good on that front. -

Any idea about the rubber one?
Poor man's wave washer to set the bearing preload?

I'd like some storage at home for some work stuff. I'd like it to be lockable, on wheels, multiple drawers, heavy duty - something like this appeals: https://www.sgs-engineering.com/stc7200b-stainless-steel-work-bench?gclid=Cj0KCQiAr5iQBhCsARIsAPcwROOMfze1G0MMLVNlqPlsFAKeeBcOqF8cMw6acBquG4EQZ1YgH2eAhZ0aAqwOEALw_wcB but also ideally more modular? In particular I'd like to be able to slide a couple of these (or similar) in on runners, lock them in place, then take them out on shoots with me already packed: https://americangrip.com/product/milk-crate/
Does such a thing exist/where should I be looking?
I don't think I could tolerate seeing this in our spare bedroom but this isn't too far off the mark. But lower, wider, with a work surface on top. May take this to the DIY thread.

Not sure how helpful this is, but you pretty much described the storage section on a plane the cabin crew use for food and random shit to sell you.

Is there any paint stripper better than Nitromors?
I know they changed the formulation and it’s not what it used to be.
I bought this, it's glossy, I don't want glossy. Can I sand it back to matte? I UTFS but it's mostly DIY chat, some discussion of acetone?

Otherwise I'll just return it and get something else I guess
