• Elegant compared to the 1250GS, i.e. a bomb in a Lego factory. It's not just that bike, the whole industry seems to have a bitty design language at the moment. It makes my K look like something from the future. I'm sure it gets more compliments now than it did 28 years ago.

  • I used to have a k1100rs for work when I was doing surveillance work for customs, great bikes and so much better than the k100. The mirror indicator pods had a habit of falling off in tight traffic so I had mine fitted with a cable so they would just dangle. You could ride it all day in comfort and still give it some stick when needed. Conversely I had a k1100lt as my own bike - fucking horrendous, nearly put me off bikes. On the boxers had a r1100rs on big rides one of the fastest bikes point to point. Comfortable and swift. My first big bike was a black and yellow r100gs really should not have sold that one.

  • If I kept the KRS I'd want to ditch the mirrors and have a rear view camera with a display above the instruments. I don't know whether that would work. But, yes, they are an issue in traffic. I also had a K11LT and got the fork springs changed and a 4 way adjustable rear shock. A bit of a transformation. I had a K100LT long ago and really hated the engine, it was always tight and was horrible to rev. I got the R11GS when they came out and everyone thought they were a joke. Then got the 1150. GS world was nice and cosy until the twats on the telly ruined it. I wish KTM had said yes to them.
