  • Unfortunately, it was one or the other. And I figured the Crockett had more utility (should’ve sold my road bike haha).

Clearance is great. Never had any problems with mud build up and I ran 40s on it for a gravel ride in the summer.

  • Yeah, I tend to keep an eye on these when they go up for sale. I had a hard time getting my hands on one when I wanted to change frame size. Annoyingly I think I still have the wrong size but I don't see a 56 popping up any time soon.

  • Yeah I've been in two minds about selling my road bike, this bike would be a good trade off don't think I need a light carbon road machine anymore 🤔

  • Never knew you owned a road bike. I thought you just had about 100 BMXs

  • I think the last decent ride it did was the Dunwich Dynamo I guess about 2019.

  • and yes I'm down to 3 BMXs at the mo, and a few frames stowed away

  • If I had bling enough wheels I'd have posted the roadie into hhsrb already to have the piss taken out of it.

  • I'll post it in the gravel thread for you

  • Same. I always seem to miss Crockett's in 52....

  • Whatcha got? I grew up BMXing so a nostalgia trip is always welcome.

  • At the moment
-The Make Cat o ninetails is my main bike
-18" Fit FBC as a bit of a muck around bike in the workshop
    -Redline race bike

Frames - Total Kaya bnib (this was a backup frame but I want to sell it now tbh)

    • The limited ed Fiend frame in the hammered bronze paint
-Premium Guttershark which is a super long term project that I have some aero profile Stay Strong rims set aside for.

Not sure any of it is actually old school but I do have a nice pair of mid school Araya double wall 48h rims. The ones with the shiny logos.

  • Ah man,

Those are all from my era of BMX (early noughties to early teens). Just spent ages on the Make website and their whole team is UK street riders I loved growing up. Nostalgia trip complete!

I'll stop taking over the SSCX thread with reminisces about mid-school BMX now.

  • Sure you need a hillclimb bike for all the Tuesday night hills?

  • That's actually my cinelli cxss with the Ti sprocket 😎 ...just have to ride it now.

The race bmx would make a good hill climber I guess.

  • I remember this having a 120mm rear spacing? How did people manage chainline with that and wide tires?

  • Argh, don't do fbook unfortunately. Have they stated an asking price?
I imagine it could be sold by now anyways

  • £1050.

    Description as follows:

"Cinelli Mash Single Speed - 56 cm seat tube
    Columbus 7005 alloy frame
Halo Evoura wheels with flip flop hub, Schwalbe G-One Allround 40mm tubeless tyres, Halo Clickster 18T freewheel
Additional set of DT Swiss 460 rims laced to Miche Primato hubs, WTB Nano 40mm tubeless tyres, Sturmey Archer 20T freewheel
Absolute Black 38T oval chain ring on Sram Force cranks, Sram brake levers.
Avid Canti brakes, Richey stem and Deda bars with Cinelli tape
Fizik Tundra seat, Cinelli seat post
A few small marks from use but in good overall condition.
    Pedals not included.
    Cash on Collection preferred
    "

  • Complete with homeopathy chainring. Looks alright actually, won't be chasing it at that price.

    Cheers for the info!

  • Excuse my ignorance, but how does an oval chainring work in a single speed setup without a chain tensioner? Does the chain get floppy in some crank angles and tight in others?

  • I asked this in ssmtb. I was told that -regardless of the actual width of the ring at the assumed 'tighter'extreme- because the chain is "always engaging half of the teeth" that the tension doesn't vary.

I'd like to see it action tbh

  • I thought maybe smaller rings = smaller difference in tension so worked with tiny mtb rings.

  • Sort of makes sense, but I need to see that in action haha.

  • Got a lot of time for this. £1050 for the frameset, though.
