  • Never heard of Harlen Coben before, but :

Stay Close. 7/10. Quite enjoyable. Good assassin characters. Nesbits pinch face mildly distracting, but overlookable.

Safe 6/10. Not as good. Dexters English accent constantly off-putting.

The stranger up next, after a break.

  • Anyone seen Yellowjackets yet?

  • For some reason I found it really irksome when he put his name in the title for "harlen coben's:safe" on all the netflix stuff. the only other people I can think of who does that are Tom Clancy and Dan Brown and they're both bellends.

  • i only do ‘free’ tv and love bobs burgers. i thought i have seen everything on offer on itv2 but is the new series being played there? watched and really enjoyed triggerpoint- great premise because all they need do is have mildly engaging and topical bants and every so often look down at a bundle of plastic with wires coming out of it and say ‘oh shit’ and it’s very dramatic

  • What about Garth Marenghi?

  • Great author. Some of his books have been made in to TV series in foreign languages. Think french and Spanish.?

You are right about Dexter ;)

  • Think it is a TV thing as he has quite a following as an author.

  • he has quite a following as an author

As does Nadine Dorries, of course.

  • I'm going to abstain from replying to that.

(That was an attempt at humour, and a dig at them)

Yeah saw there was a French one made.

Will give him a look, what's a good book you'd recommend?

  • Safe pipped Stay Close for me, but wife is on your side. James Nesbitt very distracting, yet again playing that guy from Cold Feet. Assassins OK, but could have done without the ridiculous dancing.

Also at roughly the same level, I thought Rules of the Game [iPlayer] was a good 6/10, even though it got hammered in a review here a few days ago. Not completely satisfying in how it depicted it and the eventual outcomes, but tackled inequality in the workplace & coercive control.

  • Ne Le Dis a Personne, is a French film based on Coben's book Tell No-one.
Even Coben reckoned thefilm was better than his (IMO formulaic) book.

  • Have you watched Community?

  • Ne Le Dis a Personne

This is fucking amazing. If anyone hasn't watched it, don't read about it just take my word for it and watch it with no context.

  • I like the book to the film, but then the endings are different.

  • Anyone else enjoying Martin Freeman spiriting Stephen Graham in the Responder on BBC?

Only watched the 1st episode but it has a Safdie brothers vibe with the constant building tension.

  • I am trying to catch up with Ozark but it's so incredibly dark it's almost impossible to watch during the day

  • Do you have an HDR screen? I've found that a lot of programmes are shot with the expectation that HDR will allow for details in dark scenes to be seen properly.

  • I have a HDR TV but I am watching it on the laptop, I can see most of it in a darkened room full screen but not during the day when it's just a section of the screen.
The HDR source isn't that great either. It's like that one episode of Game of Thrones but just every season.

  • It's definitely one of the darker programmes when it comes to scene lighting. I've watched it on an HDR OLED and I haven't had an issue picking out fine details.

  • That one episode of GoT on my fairly budget projector was absolutely hilarious! Couldn't see a fucking thing.

  • Started watching Foundation on Apple TV last night. Not familiar with the books but it looks decent, has a good cast and seems very well written so far

  • The Mind of Herbert Clunkerdunk on BBC3 is back again. Brilliant!

  • Ne Le Dis a Personne

100%. Love that film and can't recommend it highly enough, just dive in and enjoy it!
