  • Multiple sources confirm Boris Johnson didn’t tell his cabinet of the police investigation despite knowing before cabinet started the announcement was imminent

This has caused Cabinet incredulity, I understand.

No10 says it was too “sensitive” to share with cabinet

Imagine, you sell reputation and future career prospects, going out on TV and radio weekly to defend the indefensible and then you find out he doesn't even trust you lol

  • Also, the Met have confirmed that they haven't asked for the Gray report to be held back and they are happy for it to be published.

Yeh good luck to which ever Minister is doing the media rounds now having to defend why it not being published

  • There must be disgraced MPs from previous generations spitting feathers that they aren't around now and wouldn't have to resign (or maybe get away with not being jailed - Aitken, Archer...).

  • Will he be the first sitting PM interviewed under caution? That would be a lovely record for him to have.

Guardian addressed this earlier - apparently they didn't caution Blair when he was interviewed for the cash for honours thing, because they'd been advised that he would have felt compelled to resign if he was questioned as a suspect (versus a witness).

I imagine Johnson wouldn't feel personally compelled to do similar, but precedent has been set for him to be a witness if interviewed.

  • I imagine Johnson wouldn't feel personally compelled to do similar

    Lol. Can you imagine!

  • well that's clearly bollocks as we have changed PM without a GE about 4 times in the last decade.

EDIT only 3 I think; Blair -> Brown, Cameron -> May, May-> Johnson

EDIT and Blair -> Brown was 2007, i'm so old :(

  • Now seems that they might be going to publish the report after all. After wheeling out some sap to say that it couldn't be until after the Met investigation.

  • Mm but could be enough to make some recent intake mps waver

  • Word has it that Sue Grey has consulted with lawyers and the MET without involving No.10.
The MET have no objection and her report is to be published later this week.

  • So she's sticking the knife in and twisting it basically?

  • They were very careful to have the report being a statement of facts rather than a judgement allocating blame. With that being the case there isn't a good reason to suspend the report whilst the police investigation goes on.

  • Exactly this.

  • Always get excited on Sue Gray eve. Sky saying there are photos, including of Johnson.
Interesting to see him try and blag his way out of this.

  • bet he's begging putin to continue advancing till he gets to milton keynes

  • The only worry with this is that the stats for intelligence are that fewer than 50% of the population are above average, and this'll just be sucked up.

  • He seems keen for the report to come out. Odds on he already knows the report absolves him of any wrong doing. Otherwise he wouldn’t be so fucking cheerful about it.

But the facts is the facts, he/they/them broke the rules multiple times.

    Ummm, wait whut?

  • I assume it's supposed to be something along the lines of George Carlin's quote from around the 35s mark here (timestamps never seem to work in embedded links):

  • Haven't they said they're not releasing any of that though?

The report will go to Johnson (definitely no conflict there) and he will release the findings which will very likely be a couple of pages.

  • Remember the Mueller Report? Evidence that should have got Trump dragged from the White House and hung from a lamppost - but they released it to Barr first, who gave a totally misleading statement on its findings, and the whole thing went away. Shades of that going on here.

  • Last I saw was that they would be releasing the whole thing but who knows what's going on.

  • 99 people have 101 IQ and 1 person has 1 IQ. What percentage are better than mean IQ?

Only 1000+ IQs can solve this
