  • Most of it isn’t really fonts. It’s lettering that has been hand-rendered originally.

    So if you look at the tachy scale starting at the top and read it anti-clockwise, you can see the numerals gradually getting smaller and narrower as they go to three digits and get packed closer together. But the stroke (line) width that they’re drawn with stays the same. So they don’t look like they get thinner or thicker (lighter or bolder), or distorted. They stay the same “weight”, visually, while being very flexible about how much space they take up. That’s why it looks nice and calm and even and not a hot mess.
