  • there's some amount of cals in the bold hummus, as I realised recently when I put a table spoon into nutracheck. I've been gubbing that stuff all my life

  • I think I could eat a 200g pot of this in about 5 minutes

    734 calories.

  • "Yes, we are all individuals! (I'm not)"

I think the fact there is countless different diet regimes and the same amount of contradictory advice is testament to the vast array of bodies and minds there are and how we all react differently.

When I "cheat" it will have to be without sugary stuff.

  • I'm experimenting with making oil-free hummus today - should be about 20% - 25% of the calories.

Will let you know if it's 20% of the taste too.

  • Gonna go to the shop and get something easy, big and nice. Won't be as easy, big or nice as a takeaway but a small win is a win still

  • Gonna go to the shop and get something easy, big and nice

    @hippy ?

  • "nice"?

    Not on my watch!

  • That stuff is amazing.
Not forgetting the calories of whatever you use to dip in it.

It’s definitely a ‘domino’ food. Technically a healthy food, but who only eats a 30g portion?
Same with cashew nut, macadamia nuts and pistachio for me.

  • Wouldn’t fit his macros, or his fridge

  • 04/01 - 83.1kg
    11/01 - 81.7kg
    18/01 - 81.7kg

    Target - 75kg

Bizarrely weighed in at 80.9kg yesterday but Tuesday is my reporting day so them the dice.

Primary exercise is still rowing ERG with 3-4 sessions a week. Echoing others upstream, I am feeling in better shape even if the numbers don't correlate yet...

  • Carrots with homemade hummus (much less oil, more tahini, lemon and garlic) - basically the only way I've ever lost weight rather than just exercising more was living off this...

  • Go ride your bike :p

  • Ha! Small lunch ride incoming!
    something > nothing

  • You’ve dropped 2-3kg in 2 weeks and 30-35% achievement towards goal weight. I’d say that was pretty good!

  • Challenge for me is not getting to weight but that crucial few months after of getting it to stick. So I suppose that maintaining weight process is the real goal.

  • Same tbh, there are very few flat-line periods on my weight graph

  • @yoshy
There is an argument (I will try and find sources in due course) suggesting that this is related to being either side of an 'physiologically ideal' weight, but that 'physiologically ideal' weight not correlating to the 'ideal' weight that can be calculated online/ the desired weight (or more likely) look that an individual wants to acheive.

The data in the background is related to injury propensity and illness propensity of the underweight (to physiological ideal) or underpadded. Add to that the complexity of seasonal variance, and of maintenance itself, and I don't think many people have a flat-line period on weight graphs.

However, if you were to look at your friends, many of whom probably don't obsess to the same level, I suspect they maintain an adequate (but not necessarily desirable to yourself) physique with seemingly no adherence to a regime, and often mind-bogglingly unhealthy lifestyle choices.

  • I like that outlook!

  • So far no calorie counting for me but managed no booze, crisps, or chocolate in the last two weeks, and reigning my carb intake in a little, especially no senseless eating our 14 months old’s leftovers..

Managed to sneak in a 30 min run three times a week after dropping him off at nursery. Not gonna get the scales out but will go strictly by how much less tight my pants feel and less chub on the face…will do a first weigh in in mid feb.

Trying weight loss the zen method this time, otherwise I get obsessive and crash and gain it all back

  • This seems like a very sensible plan. The one that sticks is the best course of action

  • This is interesting and does resonate

  • Finally got to a set of scales...

    1/1/22 = 84kg
    19/1/22= 79.5kg

Happy with progress. Running at 1500 calories food per day (tracking on 'LoseIt') and maintaining between 800-1000 active calorie burn a day also. Mainly through evening hikes in the woods and 20km ish rides, as I have had a bad back.

Start back at the gym this week, so hopefully will be able to push my calorie burn further - which I will need, as I know the first 5kg are easier than the rest.

  • Oh I'll join in...
Just started back at the gym this morning, 10 free PT sessions to take advantage of so hopefully progress will be good.

Also have signed up for Paris Marathon on first weekend of April, I don't particularly enjoy running and I've never done one before but Mrs. Nahguavkire is a keen runner and talked me into it.

    Current weight: 94.7kg
    Goal weight: 80kg

  • senseless eating our 14 months old’s leftovers

so much this. It would help a lot of if many of the left overs weren't so tasty...

  • Running will definitely be kinder on your knees closer to 80kg!
I've always wanted to do a marathon, for the bucketlist, rather than hoping I'll be good at them, but my less than perfect knees and feet would crumble in the training running up to one.
