What’s the verdict on Don’t look up? I enjoyed it but a bit heavy-handed at times

I only got a half hour in to it. Thought it was broad, witless rubbish with no sense of tone at all. Mark Rylance's performance was one of the most ill judged and embarrassing I can remember seeing. They should watch Silicon Valley for a clue as to how to satirise megalomaniac tech entrepreneurs. Meryl Streep was almost as bad. Like watching a group of teenagers doing a YouTube skit for their own amusement. I think it was when Leonardo DiCaprio's character changed entirely in about 5 minutes that I gave up.

Only half an hour in? Leo changed a load more times. I enjoyed it.

Suffered through the whole thing, it's dreadful. It's a shame as there were some decent points to be raised in it but the cast were so bad.

Watched Encanto this afternoon with las nietas, I think it’s destined to be the new Frozen, which isn’t a bad thing

Gave up after 20 minutes or so. Being battered by the same point again and again became a bit too grating.

It's good, but no Frozen. And not a patch on Moana.

The Bruno song's a banger though.

Still think Luca is the best recent Disney. That has a rare quality.

We watched a few things this week

Boiling Point - broody and gripping from start to finish

Tragedy of Macbeth - as above, I thought it was great

Munich Edge of War - enjoyable enough, wife got bored after 20 mins

Not films, but I’ve been sorting out DVDs and storing away all the stuff that is on streaming anyway or I’ll rarely watch, and selecting the stuff to keep out that isn’t on Amazon or whatever. Rewatching Cosmos right now. These others are an acquired taste…

If others happen to like that kind of thing; interested in recommendations!

Eternals

So fucking bad. Turned it off and watched Scanners instead. A timeless classic.

Eternals was weirdly slow and boring for and action thing, it was hard to give a shit about the characters and the grading seemed off. I think the music was off as well, it took itself a bit too seriously and marvel films work when they're fun.
