I want to put a carbon fork on my midnight special, the current dimensions are A2C 400mm 50mm offset. The only direct replace I can find is an Enve, but don't really want to pay nearly double the price of the frame and forks.
I've fond this, which looks close, A2C 398 and offset of 48mm, what am I missing why is it so reasonably priced.

best bike posted in a good while

Nice! Why didn’t you replace the rear cantilevers with a v-brake?

I particularly like the crosstop levers and unused cable guide spacer.

Knew I would get flamed!
Is practical bike :-)

just because something is cheugy doesn't mean you have to automatically like it :)

What's your headset? With a 44mm head tube, if you're changing from internal to external headset you can knock 5-10mm off A2C. Not sure about the MS specifically but often the steel forks are 5-10mm longer to compensate.
Edit: the Ragley fork does look extremely reasonable though and they are a legit brand

Holy crap. I’m in my fifties and now had to look up Cheugy too (and have to say that the Wikipedia definition left me, if anything, more confused.)
I guess I should just go and continue my search to create the perfect hamburger.

Gravel bikes are wack whereas CX bikes are radical

Not sure about that one, but I ran this on mine: https://www.bricklanebikes.co.uk/fyxation-sparta-all-road-carbon-fork-black
And it did the job nicely. Decent clearance and internal brake routing if that's a plus for you?
I spent a lot of time trawling through this list to see what the options out there were: https://bikepacking.com/index/forks-with-bottle-cage-mounts/
Might give you some more ideas, although I struggled to find many in the UK.

Please someone stop me from doing something stupid here, I m looking to get something on my employers cycle to work scheme....I think its about time I stepped away from riding the track bike all the time as its knackering my knees....don't really want to be limited to straight road as I think its quite boring, so think gravel is probably the way forward, am I making a terrible decision?

Why didn’t you replace the rear cantilevers with a v-brake?
STIs are short pull, V-brakes long pull, so wouldn't work optimally anyway.

• #22717
Some shortie V-brakes designed to be run with with STIs. They work better than just about all cantis apart from TRP RevoX and those posh Avids

I do sell one but size medium and all shimano grxxxxxxxx :D
-
• #22722
Can you direct me to forum approved that will run with STIs? Definitely up for putting something on the back wheel that is more than decoration_

• #22723
TRP CX 8.4 if they still exist
-
• #22724
Any mini-V will work, given they have enough clearance with your mudguards. I use the cheapest Tektros I could find and they are doing wonders.

I can also recommend the Fyxation Sparta forks. Had them on a bike for quite a while and also used the mounts for bottles or light cargo like a bivvy, sleeping pad or down quilt.
For me, it was the only reasonable choice though as I required a straight steerer. I think there is a much wider selection and also cheaper ones for tapered steerers.
None drive side....
He basically saying "you have taken a photo of your bike the wrong way round, sort yourself out!" in a nice way.
