Do you mean door to door? Bristol Parkway to Paddington is 1hr 15. Who still commutes anyway?

For small villagey vibes, Islip is well nice, you can canoe/swim/SUP down the river to a number of pubs and within 45 mins into Oxford which isn't as posh as you're probably imagining and has numerous incredible pubs. Lovely countryside all around it too.

My missus. She has the wrong job title and is too much of a pussy to get it fixed and WFH.
(or, flip it, she is sensible and wants to stay the hell away from me during the day) -

Not sure Twyford could handle Hippy.

"I wouldn't want to be a member of any club that would have me" kinda vibes.
I like it.
Make mine a double. -

@hippy how far do you want to go? Didcot parkway -> Paddington is 35 minutes on the quick trains at commuter times, 45 mins on a slower non commuter one. I can get from a village nearby to my office in Notting hill in just over an hour. Can also get the fast train to reading then change to the stopper to get to Acton. Even better when Elizabeth line actually opens…
Not too many suv types (depends what you’re expecting), but not massively diverse and countryside is a bit flat

This is the quintessential guardian opinion piece: in which an author is apparently attempting to make a wider point about something but instead manages only to reveal how much of an incredible cunt they are

everywhere hung the air of self-congratulation.

Welcome to Tonbridge if it all worked out! How are you finding it?
I would also look at Streatley/Goring
