  • Does anyone have .fit and .gpx files (with heartrate, etc) for particularly long rides?

At Grafana Labs we have a hackathon going on, and one of the teams is attempting to build tooling to make it trivial to import .gpx and .fit files into standard observability tools (i.e. Prometheus) so that it can be fully visualised in Grafana.

They're got a few files of their own they're testing with, but I'm hoping for a small number of larger more complex files that they can use as a test suite.

    @hippy ?

  • Sorted.

  • Thank you 😁

  • Where to send a Garmin Fenix 3 hr for a service please?
Ive tried all the hard resets/ EPO rubbish but its not saving routes any more,, about to throw it out the window, still works for pool swimming though

  • Garmin support. Their supportiveness is variable though so be prepared to have to argue a bit.

  • So, the broken Garmin 1000 I asked about getting fixed back in 2019 and has been turbo duties only since then had a wobble and I had to remove the SD card to get it to boot. I found the email chain from back then and they still offer the Trade In / Trade up deal which knocks 30% off RRP for a new device. Decided to send the 1000 back to them and buy a 1030 Plus. ~£364 which is still ~£100 cheaper than their online price now.

So, the missus will get my 1030 and maybe sell her Wahoo and I'll have the newer 1030 Plus.

Anyone need an Edge 1000 box?

  • anyone recently swapped out the battery on their wahoo elemnt and could link me a battery to buy? mine is still going really strong after 6 years but the battery doesn't last forever in cold weather anymore

  • That sounds better than I get off my Edge 830 at the mo, I'm thinking about getting a Karoo and if that's real life battery experience then that sounds more than good enough to me - is that with navigation on, and bluetooth connected to phone that type of thing all active?

  • Following this too

  • I get between 7 and 10% per hour. I never put screen brightness higher than 50% as it is not needed (for me). Screen is even too bright in the dark, I sideloaded an app to lower the brightness even more. My active sensors are HR and Di2.

So 10 hour rides are possible but when I go +8 hours I always take a powerbank just in case. Did it with my garmin and wahoo as well. Ease of mind.

Sub £100 Garmin Instinct Solar Watches. I've taken a punt...

  • They’re coming up at over 300 quid for me. Missed them I guess?

Edit - ah. The not standard versions are cheap

  • Some of them are £108, Tactical and Camo versions for example.

Edit - you've now spotted that

  • Interestingly, no sales in mainland Europe yet

  • Are those all gone or been price corrected? Only seeing an eSports one for £179, the rest still over 200

  • Seems that they're all gone / price adjusted as I can't see the £108 price anymore

  • Sad :(

  • I need to change my Edge 200 battery and have been looking at https://newpower99.com/products/garmin-edge-200-battery-replacement-kit
Has anyone ever changed their battery successfully in a Garmin?

  • Looks like somebody may have set the prices as what should have been the total discount amount... They were showing up at £96 with some of the other 'advanced' models as mentioned at £108.

We'll see if the purchase is fulfilled... If it is, then Merry Christmas to all that got one 🎅🌲

  • Yep, done almost 7,000km on mine now, still getting fairly consistent 9-10% drain per hour with phone and power meter connected, screen brightness pretty close to full. Don't routinely use navigation but when I have it didn't seem to make a huge difference to battery life.

Loving all the new features and improvements they add literally every other Wednesday.

  • Yes, changed them in 705s a few times.
    No issues.

  • Anybody have a link for discounted 830 or alternatively one they’d like to sell second hand? Want to upgrade my ancient 800

  • Thanks very much 👍🏼
