shame I'm so wiped out I only managed 2.
spent 3 hours making a full christmas dinner spread only to eat about 1/3rd of the (small) plate I made myself.
cooking for that long just makes me lose all appetite anyways, but then I got the aches in upper body and thought I might have the 'vid but LFT says no. I've been laid up on bed watching bullshit films all evening while the GF popped round our mates to jump in their massive hot tub. not quite the christmas day i had in mind but oh well.
edit: I also did our spuds in our fancy new samsung combi microwave as both ovens were in use at different temps already, using the appallingly named crusty plate accessory on the equally ridiculous "hot blast" (oven) mode . came out 10x better than expected. proper crispy outside and fluffy inside.

Glad to hear you have (3?!) functioning ovens at least!

I know, from one extreme to the other in a matter of days.
the electrician still hasn't invoiced me for the work he did and having the money sit in my account is stressing me out in case i forget and spend it.

Normally I'd lose a bit of my appetite from the bottle of cooking wine it normally takes to cook a roast, but today I'd had about 3 sips of a beer by the time I got to the table, sprouts were top notch, parsnips decent, didn't bother with celeriac and swede mash and couldn't be arsed with making my own gravy either. Still, plenty left for curry tomorrow and I sorted out a base gravy for that yesterday and a decent parsnip soup for lunch.

Deep potato philosophy.
I can only agree with the otter -

What about that fucked up way the Irish do their potatoes so they're all dry and crumbly?
-
• #18294
I'm not sure I've tried that but I wouldn't want to disagree with the Irish about potatoes, they know their shit in that department.

Is that a lazy racist trope? I'm aware that there are a lot of potato based ones around the Irish but that certainly wasn't my intention. A lot of Irish people would say that taytos are the best crisps and that Irish potatoes are the best in the world, they're certainly a staple Irish food, I was simply trying to say that in absence of trying said Irish method of potato preparation, I'll trust that it's probably not bad.

I agree on the potato front, I love potatoes but can find no flavour in any of the varieties sold in the UK, except for a little bit in Charlotte ones.
I bet the Irish know as much about potatoes as the English know about tea. -
