Does everyone still hate them? Not me, every time I've been in there recently they've been really cool.

• #931
They're not rude and patronising any more then? Maybe new staff

Affable young folks manning things these days. And that Squid bike in the window is well nice.

Might be time to visit again then

I've only been twice, I think; the first time, Jan was very friendly and helpful, and I think the second time I mainly chatted to @Harry.Major, so I have no idea how their 'reputation' first arose, but it's safe to say that in the Great Fixie Boom of 2007+, it was a seller's market, and very different to today. There weren't many people who imported the choice bits that aspiring fixie-skidders wanted, there were few Internet sites you could order from, and AFAIR BLB imported some stuff that nobody else imported. (That may be bollocks, by the way, just AFAIR.) I imagine it may also have been a bit more stressful. It's a very different environment today. By now, BLB must have fairly vast experience of what works, so that has to be an advantage.

They’re still riding low, my other half bought a bike click and collect from their online store last year and collected from the shop. After trying it, it wasn’t the right size and she tried to return it and BLB wouldn’t take it back.
A phone call with Tower Hamlets Trading Standards to give them a lesson in distance selling regulations sorted the issue out quickly, but you shouldn’t have to. They’re still on the shit list.

Sounds like a pretty good resolution no?

They once sold me a 12t 1 1/8 cog I've never got to work with any chain...

Ridiculously nice to me when I went in the other day looking for a second hand bike for Spares Jnr.

Dont 12t cogs need a stepped lockring as well? Or even with that it still didnt work?

Are they still charging 50p for air?
I don't think people have ever worried too much about the practicality of nose studs.
