  • Popped out for a blast and a trip to Waitrose, fucking cold but the Triumph heated seat to more than adequate. Almost too hot on full blast.

Wish I had heated grips and seat when I commuted in all weathers!

  • That is why we have a big pad on the handlebars and top yoke. Ask me how I know…;(

  • Yea the DR has one on the brace. I’ve head-butted the screen a couple times as my confidence grew on the bumpy stuff. After one ride I was tempted to remove it completely.

Even on the Sherco, the little pad on the bars is definitely not just for show!

  • Not allowed to post TZR/TDR stuff. Still gutted at my decision.

  • Honestly, that video is all you need.

  • Yea but… ah well.

Having knee injuries sucks. I stiffen up bad when sitting too long. Cycling is fine. Walking can hurt even on the slightest downhills. Gonna take months to recover I guess!

With that said, I couldn’t resist at least turning over the Sherco. It’s been sat since 30th October or thereabouts. Choke on, one kick and it fired up like not a day went by. Just like the XJ600!

2 out of 3 aint bad. But I do need to strip it and clean it.

Anyway that just leaves the DR350. I have to sort the pumper carb, which was jetted too lean and had a weird erratic idle.

New main jets ordered, 130/132,5/135/140. Carb has 127,5 which is too lean and has a flat spot. Manual shows the pumper models had anything from 127,5 to 132,5 but the CV had 135. Gives me room to get it right. Probably go 132,5 first.

Disassembled and re-shaped the spring, that took all the play out of the slide assembly, which is likely to have caused the idle issue. Will find out in a few days/week when it’s in one piece again.

Oh, and I have a spare airbox with the 3x3 cut in it already. That’s what the 140 main jet is for.

  • Good to have goals and all that, this'll definitely be going on the garage wall as inspiration. May have been a bit naughty and bought a Hel front radial master cylinder for the old girl. Just need to decide whether I service the temperamental 6 pot calipers or go for the tried and tested 4 pot route.

  • 4-pot. You’ll be able to stop.

  • 132,5 main jet installed in the DR, replacing the 127,5 that the TM33 shipped with.

Went for the N102.221 series jet with a 6mm OD, instead of the correct N100.604 series with 8mm OD.

Rationale? Slightly more fuel in the bowl without adjusting float height.

Flat spot seems less evident now. Bike certainly moved! Only a quick jaunt to the post office to get some cash.

Will need a proper ride to get everything dialled before MOT in Jan.

  • Get whatever plays nicely with the MC you bought mate - likely 4 pot. Will be way cheaper on pads too most likely.

Fired up my CR yesterday - first time since June. 5 kicks. Race gas is so much better. I can report from a quick rip up the alley that it's violent as ever. Everyone should have a 250 two stroke MX bike at least once. Will hopefully get out for a ride on it later this week when it stops raining and enjoy some hero dirt.

  • Any one used wemoto? The have been hacked so details are out there.

  • Where did you see that? Can’t find any info. Used to use them a bit

  • Just gonna leave this here

  • Saturday morning at the CBT training centre :)

  • Went to ride drz earlier. Battery was flat. So I just gave up.

The answer is clearly I need to ride it more!

The battery out means panels of and its just a faff to do to then charge. But its a bitch to bump start.

  • Tough luck, hate the one time you actually want to ride the thing the battery says no.

Slipping and sliding around out there, first time for me smashing through frozen puddles. Loving every minute. Also came across my first closed BOAT which only reinforces joining the TRF. Not regretting selling the RSV yet.

  • Add a pigtail and zip tie the end somewhere more accessible?

  • Yeah might have to. Annoyingly it didn't used to go flat on the old battery, then someone stole that battery and the replacement (yuasa) goes flat, which is weird.

  • Get a lithium battery. I had to redo all the alternator wiring on the 900ss. Replaced the lead acid battery with a Shorai and it’s 8lbs lighter!

Lithium batteries basically don’t go flat as long as there is no parasitic load.

  • Yeah I think I might. I was also thinking of fitting a switch at the battery. I can't see there being a parasitic load. I have wired a USB charger in, but I took the fuse out of it.

  • Lithiums are a whole extra can of worms.

Strange you had the battery go flat. Attach an SAE like @hugo7 suggests. Also use it when the bike turns over to measure voltage drop, and once running see what the regrec is pushing the battery to.

With lithium you may need a different regrec/mosfet etc
