• Lol. FWIW I’m not anti rep. But claiming it’s indistinguishable from the real thing is hilarious. I’ve seen the macro photos of Noob reps versus genuine Submariner’s. There are clear differences. Both externally and especially at the movement level. Yeah, the rep’s rotor might look real, but once you take the rotor off, it’s immediately apparent.

And yes, I stand by my point. This ‘real world saving’ is a nonsense.

  • Fair enough, I’ve seen articles claiming things both ways (although I’m not sure noob is top-tier any more) but not compared for myself. Some of them claim to clone the Rolex sub movement…
I’d like one to wind people up but not @ £500!

The car thing is a tortuous analogy anyway but I get that mentally one will never be the other, regardless of physical similarity.

  • Okay. Remember maybe 15-20 years ago when there was this company selling g body kits for a Toyota MR2 that made it look just like a Ferrari F355? I remember seeing it on top gear as a kid. It’s the same as that. It’s all good till you peak under the hood. Then you realize you have something that is not even in the same league. ‘Cloning a movement’ doesn’t mean it’s the same at all. Like. Not even close.

  • The car thing is a tortuous analogy

The correct analogy is with something like a pair of fake jeans or a handbag.
